Exactly what I was thinking ChuckDees..you took the works out of my mouth.

I'm on DSL and just installed WinXP. Need help with location of settings to change in the registry (ie mtu/DefaultRcvWindow/MaxFrameSize) and what are best patches to apply.

Thanks everyone. That last link that Lobo gave helped. My problem was with:
HOTKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Class\Net\000x (x being the number of the key that MaxFrameSize is installed in..
under 000x there is an entry for MaxFrameSize "1454"
change this number to "1492"

This is what I have done to date.

1) Ran Vtcp.386 this is file: 236926USA8.EXE
2) Ran win98 pppoe RegPatch this is file: sguide_tweak_98.inf by right clicking and choosing install.
3) Ran MS fix for Win98se this is file: 243199US8.EXE

Had a HD failure. Lost it completely (20gigs). Western Digital is replacing it under warranty. I bought another new one also and had to format and reinstall.

My problem now is I can't get it configured as before. I'm on Windows 98se and installed win98 pppoe RegPatch & SEfix. I also ran Vtcp.386 ...

I'm on DSL PPPoE and understand that my MaxMTU should be set at 1492. I edited the registry to set all Nettrans settings(0000 to 0009) MaxMtu to 1492,and all other settings at suggested red settings. When I run TCP/IP analyzer my setting shows up as below..1454, yet my Registry settings are 1492 ...

Most I seem to get is 33. But I noticed that my MTU is 1454 and was told that for DSL on PPPoE it should be 1492. Should I change this or anything else. I would like to have it running as best as possible.
