How's this look Lobo?

Post by RokitSiyents »

Thanks for your info Lobo. I've done everything your instructed and these are my results.Let me know what you think. I still thought that my MaxMTU was supposed to be 1492 or is this ok? Just one question. My neighbour DL's on Napster at 60KB/sec and the most I get is 12 to 20 (I know Napster will soon be history). Is this just the way it is? I've actually been thinking of reformatting my C:/ and reinstalling everything to see if I get any improvement coz IExplorer 5.5 also seems to lock up on me lately.

TCP options string = 020405860103030201010402

MTU = 1454
MTU is not fully optimized for broadband. Consider increasing your MTU to 1500 for better throughput.

MSS = 1414
Maximum useful data in each packet = 1414, which seems to be equal to MSS.
MSS is not fully optimized for broadband (although it might work well for slower connections). Consider increasing your MTU value.

Default Receive Window (RWIN) = 256960
RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 2 bits
Unscaled Receive Window = 64240
For optimum performance, consider changing RWIN to a multiple of MSS.
Other values for RWIN that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:
520352 (MSS x 46 * scale factor of 8)
260176 (MSS x 46 * scale factor of 4)
130088 (MSS x 46 * scale factor of 2)
65044 (MSS x 46)

bandwidth * delay product:
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 10278.4 kbps (1284.8 KBytes/s) @ 200ms
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 4111.36 kbps (513.92 KBytes/s) @ 500ms

MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = true

Time to live left = 53 hops
TTL value is ok.
Note: Since TTL is decreased by 1 with each hop, the value above is equal to your TTL minus the number of hops to forums.speedguide.net

Timestamps (RFC1323) = false

Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = true

IP type of service field (RFC1349)= 00000000
Priority = 000 (routine)
Delay = 0 (normal delay)
Throughput = 0 (normal throughput)
Reliability = 0 (normal reliability)
Cost = 0 (normal cost)

Your On DSL and using Enternet 300 for your connection at least thats how I read it..
Could be Winpoet..
Looks good here..
It might be better if timestamps were on but the rest is fine..

If you want to turn on time stamping do this and after you do, download to desktop, click on DR. TCP and where it says time stamping select yes, after selecting your adapter, reboot, your good to go:
Please go to this http://www.dslreports.com/front/drtcp.htmlRL
Download DR. TCP to your desktop
Where it saids adapter settings, select your adapter
Where it says Time Stamping, select Yes
Reboot for changes to take affect

Do not change any numbers in this box unless you know what you are doing.
A blank box only means that the default setting is being used :)

Also, the thing to remember about Napster is that just because the user your connecting to shows to be T-1, doesnt mean he is. If you are getting sub 20K/S, you may be connected to another cable user that is uploading as fast as he can. Dont use Napster as a speed test. I've downloaded from people claiming they were on a 14.4 connection and recieved at 118 K/S. Completely impossible for a 14.4 modem user. Or for a 56k modem user. Use the link provided in these forum for speed tests. And make sure its EARLY in the morning. 3am to 6am. Less internet traffic at that time.

http://www.dslreports.com/front/DRTCP019.exe

There is the direct link. With either WinPoET or EnterNet we can GENERALLY increase your MTU to 1492 -- although it might not buy you a lot more speed...
