You would be sharing your ISP's services with other customers, hence you will see slower speeds around peak hour times, which is usually in the afternoon/night as people get home from work etc. This is usually caused by an ISP over-subscribing customers.

Hi Jason,

I have used wireshark for multiple things, but not sure if it is able to send email alerts.

Wireshark is great, and once you learn how to use it effectively it is quite a good tool, previous knowledge in networking, and knowing what to look for is a good place to start.

OK - When the login window comes up. In User-name type "Administrator" and in then leave the Password field blank.

Assets such as equipment and their bar code numbers, serial numbers, brand, mode, warranty, where puchased, when the piece of equipment last wiped its butt...

Rather in depth information about each piece of gear. When I say gear, I'm working in PayTV broadcast. So there's alot to be done...

What happens when you try to turn it off? I'm assuming it crashes? It sounds like a virus to me.

You're best of starting to run a full system scan, some virus disguise themselves as a svchost.exe in the task manager... So run windows in safemode, download Avast! and install it, run a full system ...

Hey, not sure if it's available on Windows 7, but I use Avast! Antivirus... It's super awesome.

I also use Spybot Search and Destroy Resident as a firewall, which is awesome, they both dont allow in or out traffic without your consent, which is painful to begin with, as you need to tell it that ...

Hey guys,

I got it. I found and looked at my hosts file, it looked fine.

I then tried uninstalling and reinstalling Peer Guardian, I'm assuming that the log in PG was blocking google.

All is well again!

Right... So I have a macbookpro, running Mac OSX. It recently hates google and their sites. It won't load the google home page, googlemaps, bloggers, etc. This is using firefox, safari and opera.

I am connecting to the internet via a 3G USB ...

I dunno if this could be it, but your ISP might have changed their outgoing mail server address and not told you. This happened to me.

I am (in australia) with bigblue, which is owned by iinet. They say that you have to use the iinet mail server, but it never worked until i thought to changed it to ...
