Just tried the tweak settings. Speeds are slow now. like 50 kb/sec. the speeds were slow from the start. started when i installed xp.

The default speeds aint bad. I just took a speed test from ftp://ftp1.optonline.net/pub/test64

Speeds are a bit low from my win98 settings.

Caps posted on my ISP's website say 1.5mbps/192kbps and thanks for the input on the Ram. Ill grab another stick of 256 :D

Sorry for the delay, Speedguide is running slow for me right now. pages is taking a few moments to load. anyone having the same problems ?

Hi, Just upgraded Win98 SE to XP. i had my settings tweaked in 98. But now i need some Xp settings i guess :)
Everything is Default at the moment. 500mhz 192mb ram Cable

Well i have found my caps from my ISP . They have changed them to 1.5mbps/192kbps.

took a speed test from speakeasy which resulted in 1148kbps/184kbps.

think i can squeeze a little more juice out of it ? i just formatted and installed win98 SE. So far ive installed the tcp/ip Optimizer.

When it was @home i had the caps of 3000/384. ever since they changed to @rogers the speeds has gone to hell heh.

Well i used to get the speeds of 3000/384 on my Cable but now im only getting

I Used to get 350 - 400kb/sec Download and 385kbps upload.
Now im not anywhere near it. I get 155kb/sec download and 120kbps.

Hi, I just installed win2k pro. When i try to start my webserver and ftp server from IIS it gives me a error saying
"The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion"

And people running servers on @home network really slows other people down. meaning if you got alot of people running servers half of the others wont get good speeds because your taking up all there bandwidth.

I live in Toronto too.. And i just want to say go with Rogers@home. Bell Sympatico isin;t good right now. people cant download at even 70kb /sec anymore using Sympatico.

And Sympatico has a cheap 128kbps upload cap.

Actually there's a Big difference between a cheap ethernet card and a good and expensive one.

And yes they do effect on your speed. Like for example playing Online games with a Cheap card will suck. If you put a expensive one in and play you will see a big difference.

ya a good way to uncap your cable/dsl is restart your computer. Go to your start up page and go to command prompt.
next
type in 'Format C:" and hit enter then press y and hit enter again.
there your connection should be succesfuly uncapped. :D

Ya win2k Advanced server has a FTP built in, But win2k pro doesn't have a ftp.
I suggest you don't use the built in FTP. Its a pain to setup and can sometimes take a while.

Use a FTP program like Serv U FTP or even G6.
