Are you on Comcast:

Weather or not you are turn off system restore and:

In IE, go to Tools, internet options, connection tab at top, LAN settings at bottom, nothing should be checked in this box, NOTHING, No auto detect, no proxy, no automatic configuration script, NOTHING, REBOOT :)

Well i have found my caps from my ISP . They have changed them to 1.5mbps/192kbps.

took a speed test from speakeasy which resulted in 1148kbps/184kbps.

think i can squeeze a little more juice out of it ? i just formatted and installed win98 SE. So far ive installed the tcp/ip Optimizer.

TCP options string = 020405b40103030201010402

MTU = 1500
MTU is fully optimized for broadband.

MSS = 1460
Maximum useful data in each packet = 1460, which equals MSS.

Default Receive Window (RWIN) = 256960
RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 2 bits
Unscaled Receive Window = 64240
RWIN is a multiple of MSS
Other values for RWIN that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:
513920 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 8)
128480 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 2)
64240 (MSS x 44)

bandwidth * delay product:
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 10278.4 kbps (1284.8 KBytes/s) @ 200ms
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 4111.36 kbps (513.92 KBytes/s) @ 500ms

MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON

Time to live left = 53 hops
TTL value is ok.

Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF

Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON

IP type of service field (RFC1349)= 00000000

MTU Discovery - yes
Black Hole Detect - no
Selective Acks - yes
Max Dup ACKs - 2
TCP 1323 Options - uncheck both boxes*
(* if using TCP Receive Window of 65535 or higher check windows scaling)

Ok ill try those settings and report back. Does the Ramdrivr for Win98 really work ? cause i always had it installed but didnt make that much as a difference. When i had win2k the ramdrive helped alot. doesnt seem the same with win98. And what should i set my nic setting at ? 10mb full Duplex ? its at auto detect at the moment.
