your LCD still has a 'refresh rate' in a sense

its at 60Hz, some can do 75Hz

if the games fps exceeds this and you have vsync off you will get tearing

and HL2 has good framerates, so you'll be experiencing this a lot

I always wondered why the "tearing" would happen. I got that alot in Jedi ...

1492 is the best optimization for DSL

Where did you hear that? The tweaks I've seen have said to set it to 1500 for cable or DSL. I'm on DSL and have mine set to 1500. Just wondering if it would make any difference...

I think the reason why my HDD has failed after using it for only 1 year is that I ran defragment waaaay too often. I asked around in another forum and people there said defragment would damage your HDD if you over do it. I used to run defragment everytime after I ran Bittorrent, so I guess that ...

PS2 through PC?

I want to be able to play my PS2 through my PC so I can use my monitor and 5.1 surround. I have a Powercolor 9600 Pro with a VGA input and S-Video. My sound card is an Audigy LS with all your standard stereo hookups and an SPDIF in. I've seen an adapter for the PS2 that has the AV multi for PS2 on ...

Have you checked your mobo manual to see what the long beep means? That would probably be the first place to start. You're just getting the checksum error from when you cleared the CMOS. That's just telling you to check your BIOS settings, but since you can't get in that doesn't do you much good ...

People are saying Prescotts don't OC well because of the "ridiculous" amount of heat they put off. Just get a good aftermarker HSF and you'll be fine. 2.8E's are hitting 3.5 fairly easy on air.
