Provisioning, according to cable companies, is the act of entering your modem information (S/N, MAC, Make, Model) into their system so the router recognizes your modem, allows it to pass traffic, and knows which configuration file to send it.

Why would it take three days? Because your cable company ...

Just because that is your default gateway with Cox doesn't mean that it will be the same for everyone - I might be wrong if they only have 254 customers though.

That Gateway is for your IP range....not for each range that Cox has.

At this point you probably want to share with us the name of your ISP/cable company.

Some don't care about your NIC MAC, some do....others assign static, some dynamic......others assign in various IP "ranges" (blocks), some don't.

Before spending money unnecessarily, it is worth finding out who ...

I don't think that 36ms to your gateway is that bad. Yes, people get better, but some people get worse.

There isn't much that your ISP will do unless you have 300+ ms pings within their network.

MadDoctor is right - if you want to try something new, ditch the old tweak first.

I always use the default ccs files with Cablenut and have had nothing but success.

You are leaving AT&T on the 9th hop, and your ping times at that point aren't really that bad.

Your statement of it taking 18 hops to get to AT&T Broadband is inaccurate...that is the game server. There isn't really anything you can do about the ping times outside the network. AT&T Broadband will ...

Just curious.

If you have to purchase, what are your choices (what modems does your provider support)? There are several awesome modems out the for around $150.00

Most cable companies require that your modem is registered with them in order for you to get connected.
