Can i get broadband?

Post by Tempest993 »

I am stuck on a 28.8 dial up connection due to phonelines in my area. When i check my lines at qwest.com it notifys me that the lines do not support dsl. Any way around this or other companies besides RR and att that supply cable?
Thanks.

You could go Directv DSL (http://www.directvdsl.com/). Has decent speeds but the setup can be very expensive since you need a dish and receiver.

You can search for other options here: http://www.dslreports.com/search

I have done that already. (Dsl reports that is) but the problem is i dont think my telephone lines support dsl. At least, thats whats qwest says. It seems correct because i can only get a 28.8 connection max on my dial up.

Qwest has interbred IFITL within the network in newer areas. If there's a fiber line somewhere between you and the CO, it's either gonna be 56k, ISDN, or IDSL. That means replacing the copper (or fiber) local loop, it won't help.
