Activity light

I have suddenly noticed that my activity light on my modem and router are nearly glowing steady, instead of the semi-quick flicker that I am used to, even while the PC's are not in use.

Has anyone else noticed any such activity?

Well, no help on the issue of not having service.

If you have a Surfboard modem, you can tell by looking at the webpage of the modem. This will tell you many things, one of which is what your Signal-to-noise ratio is. It should be well over 20. Middle to upper 30's is great.

Another figure is ...

I would be willing to bet that your Customer Agreement prevents you from setting up any servers and using the cable modem service to do so.

Try this:

goto your linksys router web-based configuration page,
click on the Advanced tab, this opens the Filters tab.

Last item on the list is MTU. Try Enable and 1500 as
the size.

This is what mine is set at and I'm getting 85% of my rated speed cap.
