Network Connections problem in XP Pro

Hey everyone, I recently reformatted to Windows XP Pro and was trying to set up ICS (internet connection sharing) but when i look under the advanced tab of the properties for the ethernet card that has the cable connection that I wish to share, there is an error message that says:

Hey speaking about getting a separate IP address for a UT server, does running a UT server on a cable or DSL line break the ISP's policy of no servers? or do they only mean you can't run web servers?

AIM won't work on home network

Hey everybody, I am having a problem with my home network. I am trying to use Analogx's Proxy to share the internet. Internet explorer works fine, but for some reason AIM won't. I configured it to use socks4 proxy with the server being the host computer and port 1080 but it fails to work. Does ...

K, thanks a lot. An HPNA network is just a phoneline network. The "Server" PC with the cable modem is using ME while the two client PCs are using win98. Does anyone else have a phoneline network that isn't Linksys? If so, what is the internet sharing program that is included?

Internet sharing on phoneline network

Hey I have the Linksys 10M phoneline network kit. The internet sharing program that they include, Internet LanBridge really sucks. Does anyone know which of the other internet sharing programs work on HPNA networks? Thanks.

It isn't the firewall......I tried disabling it and allowing DNS to come through. It is adelphia's problem, and they acknowledge it. Oh well.

tsk tsk....how can you love adelphia. Its horrible. Even though the speed may be good, there are way too many users and it is nowhere near the speeds other cable systems get. It has horrible pings for gaming and the 128 upload cap is a pain. All that in addition to the 20-second outages which are ...

running ethernet cable

I was wondering how hard it is to run ehternet cable through the walls of my house into my basement. For you people who have done this, is it a very difficult task? Should I call an electrician, or can I do it myself? How much time would it take for me to do it myself?

It probably does. It aslo caused connection problems. But now they are upgrading it ...

This is probably on eof those dumb questions that I'm sure has been asked a billion times. I am currently using one DOCSIS modem on a static IP. Celerons and Durons are of the same class, but I would go with the Duron in that case. Athlons/Thunderbirds (whichever your motherboard supports) are cheaper and comparable to PIII's. Xeons are EXTREMELY expensive, but are very fast processors. Especially if you can get 2 of em :D .

Is it good for a PC to be on at all times?

Is it safe for a computer to be on all the time? I have also heard many people worry about ...
