At my job, we have seen this happen to IBM and Dell PC's. Dell FINALLY goes public and admits that there is a "known" problem. I found out about that site while reading this...

Sounds rather odd i am actually running to wpa54g's in just this setup and have wpa on.

My setup is
Siemens ADSL Modem
Wrt54g (kyperwap enabled)
Dlink Du-704p Print server
Two Wap54gs 2.08
And a netgear wrt624g


this setup runs across two houses and work flawless.

Passive FTP was already disabled in his browser settings. I forgot to mention that I couldnt RDC into my home box on a VZE connection either. I believe setting the MTU to 1300 fixed it. Aside from my friend entering the wrong account info...

I have Verizon.. and I have 2 FTP servers up (IIS 6 and also ProFTPD)..
If anyone tries to access either of my FTP servers.. from Internet Explorer.. they have to right click on internet explorer's icon then left click on properties ...

Cyberskye, Im currently running active but I was running passive. I just disabled passive mode.

Verizon isnt blocking ports. I can connect to ftp.linksys.com from my buddys house. He has Verizon DSL. My other friend has Comcast, and he connects to me with no problem.

I have Comcast HSI (w/ speed upgrade), and a Linksys BEFSX41 router. Im running Serv-U 6.0.0.0. For some ODD reason, Verizon DSL customers are having EXTREME difficulty connecting to my FTP server.

I tried to set up my 2 WAP54G's again (one as an AP and one as a repeater) with WPA-PSK enabled. I used the 2.08 firmware. Again, Linksys CLEARLY STATES that this new firmware supports WPA-PSK in repeater mode!

FYI... Moderators MIGHT wanna make this a sticky...

After weeks of headaches...

The WAP54G does NOT work in repeater mode while running WPA encryption. Dont even TRY it.

Even though the linksys website CLAIMS that it will work, it just plain doesnt...

What is the purpose of the WAP54G in repeater mode?

ok I was told by an aol rep that i could order just the highspeed from comcast and then go with a diff provider and only have to pay half the regular amount cause i would have to pay say 10-15 for the highspeed then additional 10 for the internet making it 20-25 for everthing with no fees going up ...

Disconnect ALL OF THE PHONES in the house and see if your modem loses sync. If not, hook up each phone ONE BY ONE and test. If you lose sync on say the 3rd phone, then you know that you have a bad phone. A bad phone in the house WILL cause problems with Verizon DSL.

This may be a long shot but... Clone the MAC address from the PC that works online into the router. Just look for the MAC CLONE feature in the router set-up page. That way, you fool your ISP into thinking the same PC is hooked up. You should get an IP address then.

By chance, would you have Verizon DSL? IIRC, with some of the older modems, you would have to change the IP of the router from 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.2.1 to resolve an IP conflict with the modem.
