Need Help Tweaking: 1.5 mb/s connection

To cut to the chase, I have Charter Pipeline Digital Cable rated for 1.5mbps downstream, and about 256 upstream. (not too sure on the latter one). However, my download speed are pitiful. Does anyone know how the heck I can boost the speed?

I'm getting some from Komusa.com. They have some pretty fast RAM at a low price. 2 512 mb sticks (1GB en toto) of HyperRAM PC3200 is about 160$.
Perhaps you could get an AGP 6600GT? They might not be out until the holidays, but your current card should work well enough until then.

Small Form Factor (SFF) is a fancy way of describing any computer about the size of a toaster. A shuttle XPC, for example, would really benifit from watercooling.

SOYO is not the best motherboard manufacturer, and with the exception of the K8T800(pro), Via's chipsets are all pretty lousy. Something with an 875P chipset would be good, although an "enhanced" 865PE like those used in ASUS boards is about as good.

Of course, for a home theater setup, the HT might give you an edge, so it's your call on what to get.

Intel's 865G chipset is the bottom-of-the-line option, and is therefore slow. Go for something with an 875P or 915P chipset, or at least an 865PE. SATA RAID and FireWire are both good things to have, and integrated high-quality 5.1 stereo is worth the cash.
