A couple of questions. I haven't been around for a long time, several months. O/S is windows ME. I have speed guide tweak 98 and it looks to be speed guide tweak 9x now. I have the cablenut 408 adjuster and that is all. here are my settings--------
Browser/OS = Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows 98; Win 9x 4.90; T312461; Cox High Speed Internet Customer)
Notes: Read the Analyzer FAQ if the above is not your IP address.
TCP options string = 020405b401010402
MTU = 1500
MTU is fully optimized for broadband.
MSS = 1460
Maximum useful data in each packet = 1460, which equals MSS.
Default Receive Window (RWIN) = 35040
RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 0 bits
Unscaled Receive Window = 35040
RWIN is a multiple of MSS
Other values for RWIN that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:
513920 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 8)
256960 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 4)
128480 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 2)
64240 (MSS x 44)
bandwidth * delay product (Note this is not a speed test):
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 1401.6 kbps (175.2 KBytes/s) @ 200ms
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 560.64 kbps (70.08 KBytes/s) @ 500ms
MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON
Time to live left = 54 hops
TTL value is ok.
Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF
Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON
IP type of service field (RFC1349) = 11100000
Precedence (priority) = 000 (routine)
Delay = 0 (normal delay)
Throughput = 0 (normal throughput)
Reliability = 1 (high reliability)
Cost = 1 (low cost)
Is the registry tweaks shown here, http://www.j79zlr.com/cablenutME98.php just for 98 or does it include ME? It's a little confusing. If they also work on me where does the hexidecimal 01 go, at the end of the string?
I used the Download and Latency guide there in cable nut and it did help a little. Is there some new tools I should have? Thru cox my d/l is 2852 and upload is 193. I believe they advertise it at 3000/256.
Since I'm here I have an intermittent cable connection. It has not happened today. I took the time to clean all connections so I'll see what happens. I read the horror stories, LOL but I haven't accepted that my ISP says a modem can be intermittent if it is failing. Thanks for any advice.

A couple of questions, haven't been here in a while
yeah 98 and me as far as cablenut is conceared it's the same in cablenut try this value your speeds are that bad upstream is low but you can't tweak it
http://www.speedguide.net/read_articles.php?id=1197 try this link and post
anyway i would also try power down your modem for about 20mins and see if that helps also post your singals b4 and after the power down see what we got
Change this value in cablenut DefaultRcvWindow 6420 your rwin was a little low
imo

Thanks,
I have powered down the modem, actually that is the only way so far it works. I leave it off at night. Like I said it hasn't failed today. I don't have the equipment to test signal strength. The last time here is what the cable guy wrote.
@modem -9\ 1.4
Line in 6.9\6
3way 4\3
Difference 1.3 circled with a \ 1.5 after
It doesn't look like the numbers on the link. Next time I have him out I'll get the numbers. Until then if the cleaning the connections worked, I won't need him.
So the registry tweak at the link shown in my first post is applied to ME? It looks like it is just for 98 is why I ask.

I still havent made any registry change. That is part do to what I should add and if I do. I don't understand where the hexidecimal code goes. Regardless my speed is up a tad.
Other than the code, is there an rwin setting between 40880 and 52560. It likes both but not over or under the two numbers. It's a toss up sometimes.

Thanks, I'll give 51100 a try. What I was asking about is the hexidecimal code. Here is the text from that page, I put the sentence in bold. I don't understand where the hexadecimal 01 goes in the string or just change the last two numbers?.
If you are running either 98 or 98SE, install the vtcp 386 patch. If you are on 98SE, install the NDIS Update as well. Get them from DSLNuts.
Navigate in the registry to this key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\VxD\MSTCP\ServiceProvider
First export the key and then change the values of all of these to hexadecimal 01
DnsPriority
HostsPriority
LocalPriority
NetbtPriority
Navigate in the registry to this key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Explorer\RemoteComputer\NameSpace
Find the key named {D6277990-4C6A-11CF-8D87-00AA0060F5BF}. First export the key, then delete it.
If you have problems, merge the exported registry file(s) to undo the changes.
I have a registry patch that will do these both for you: ME98Internet.reg
Heres the undo patch: UNDO_ME98Internet.reg
Thanks, reeo
