Thinking aobut joining Army

Post by aagiants »

What do you guys think, went to the recruiter 2day, and it all seemd good. still 17 and have to talk to parents, but i dotn know what to do. Reserves and go to school. Or enlist and wait for school. Or go to school and no army at all.

Im getting responses from college in a couple weeks

Going into engineering in school, and in the army i would be either the light vehical mechanic or heavy

Since my brother's not a SpeedGuide member, I'll say it for him:

Join the Marine Corps instead.

Go Air Force.....much better living conditions and jobs. Go reserves or Air National Guard. Good benefits and opportunities to travel.

You might consider the world situation before you make this decision as you might not make college next year. There's people we know that got The Call last month to be ready to go to Kuwait, but then it was called off at the last minute.

These same people got The Call yesterday and are going to Kuwait tomorrow.

If he is joining I'm sure he has in mind the possiblilty of war. I'd say join, if we go to war now you probably wouldnt be in it anyway. You would still be training. Reserves and guard are great and I'm sure you will be able to use the extra $$!.

well a light weigh mechanic wouldn't be at that much danger, and if i was, it wouldbn't be that much of a prob...

10,000$ for school

and i dont know how much u get as a reserve, but as a active person i get like 1200 a month. It might be higher since i am smarter then the average person, and plus i can pass the preliminary fitness test. 2 miles in 16 min and 50 pushups and some situps

Just listen to the commander of the Sub Alabama in the movie Crimson Tide....

" I expect and demand your very best, anything less. And you should have joined the Air Force."

Well you know what you want to do, pick the one that has the most interesting things to do while in your position.

Good luck with whatever you do. Im 18 and have thought about joining. I have a friend who is going into the Army, and several already in it.

The fastest time I ever ran was about a 10 1/2 minute 1.5mile...about 50 pounds ago :D ...last few years I was in I did the swim instead of the run...I could usually do the 500 yard swim in about 10 or 11 minutes...

(this is with hills and stuff a 3 mile on a track would be much easier)
