Power plants first.

Then, go for media stations.

Military bases

Civil Services
So trade that typical for something colorful, and if it's crazy live a little crazy!

I guess I don't have resources for that then?...
a few ABombs on some of the bigger cities..

the reason I mentioned location is b/c of the fallout of an ABomb..

obviously if one lived in canada that would NOT be an advisable thing to do...

all in all that's not an easy question...

obviously you would want to screw the power plants and water plants/towers

military bases (mainly air force is most important...)
you'd also want to get rid of some of the larger aircraft carriers..

The 9-11 attack was never designed to kill a lot of Americans such as the attacks you are discussing. It was designed to strike at the hearts fo Americans on a personal level, which it did, but failed in its likely design to demoralize us and shut our economy down.
Tactical nuclear weapons detonated locally (on our soil) would be more of the type of attack your discussion is about.

I see your reasoning for thinking that 9-11 was a dumb idea. And i know that you are a clear thinker from reading all of your posts. But we need to look at what the cause of the attack was and what there final objective was.

IMHO they accomplished there mission and more.

Because they used "the calculated use of violence or the threat of violence to inculcate fear; intended to coerce or to intimidate governments or societies in the pursuit of goals that are generally political, religious, or ideological."

Terrorists generally know what they are doing. Their selection of a target is planned and rational. They know the effect they seek. Terrorist violence is neither spontaneous nor random. Terrorism is intended to produce fear; by implication, that fear is engendered in someone other than the victim. In other words, terrorism is a psychological act conducted for its impact on an audience.

The rational terrorist thinks through his goals and options, making a cost-benefit analysis. He seeks to determine whether there are less costly and more effective ways to achieve his objective than terrorism. To assess the risk, he weighs the target's defensive capabilities against his own capabilities to attack. He measures his group's capabilities to sustain the effort. The essential question is whether terrorism will work for the desired purpose, given societal conditions at the time. The terrorist's rational analysis is similar to that of a military commander or a business entrepreneur considering available courses of action.

Psychological motivation for terrorism derives from the terrorist's personal dissatisfaction with his life and accomplishments. He finds his raison d'etre in dedicated terrorist action. Although no clear psychopathy is found among terrorists, there is a nearly universal element in them that can be described as the "true believer."2 Terrorists do not even consider that they may be wrong and that others' views may have some merit. Terrorists tend to project their own antisocial motivations onto others, creating a polarized "we versus they" outlook. They attribute only evil motives to anyone outside their own group. This enables the terrorists to dehumanize their victims and removes any sense of ambiguity from their minds. The resulting clarity of purpose appeals to those who crave violence to relieve their constant anger. The other common characteristic of the psychologically motivated terrorist is the pronounced need to belong to a group. With some terrorists, group acceptance is a stronger motivator than the stated political objectives of the organization. Such individuals define their social status by group acceptance.

Cultures shape values and motivate people to actions that seem unreasonable to foreign observers. Americans are reluctant to appreciate the intense effect of culture on behavior. We accept the myth that rational behavior guides all human actions. Even though irrational behavior occurs in our own tradition, we seek to explain it by other means. We reject as unbelievable such things as vendettas, martyrdom, and self-destructive group behavior when we observe them in others. We view with disbelief such things as the dissolution of a viable state for the sake of ethnic purity when the resulting ministates are economically anemic.
It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the fredom to demonstrate. It is the soldier, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial. It is the soldier who salutes the flag, serves under the flag, and whose coffin is draped by the flag, who allows the protester to burn the flag. De Oppresso Liber

There is no need to devise nasty scenarios. The US is doing quite well on its own. A judicial system that lets crims back on the street and of course Political correctness but, we musnt forget the Jerry Springer show and others like it. Forbidding Religious gatherings at PUBLIC schools?. These are killing America faster than anyone else can.

I think that it would have been even more successsful if they would have picked 4 towns with say 10-30,000 population and crashed into the local high school. That would have put the whole country into a total panic, as if Greenburg Indiana for instance gets hit, nothing would seem safe anywhere.

put a time released virus on paper money. travel the US, stop in every major city. spend hundreds of thousands of dollars. the release would happen 2 months after first spending of the money. local, state and federal agencies could not contain it, nor figure out where it came from. perhaps a form of smallpox would be best.

i thought of two more...but they are worst. better keep them to myself.

well, the water supply thing has me a little worried. just a little. but I happen to think that a fine way to spend a summer day is hiking or riding to a lake, and going for a swim. around here, most of the pretty lakes are drinking water supply reservoirs, and thus are off limits.

I am very aware of how hard it is to prevent access to them. it seems like it would be very, very easy to add some kind of a poison or toxic substance to them. how effective that substance would be I don't know (I assume the water is heavily treated) but it sure would be easy to get it into the water...

smallpox various other diseases. Also for the long term I would slowly try to diminish the economic infrastructure with counterfit money and misinformation and then make sure I was well entrenched in every facet when it started back on the upswing. Then with a couple of strategic buyoffs of politicians and buisnessmen I would attempt a coup!

I would knock out the satellites.

thereby stopping most mobile phones, television news, some internet, pagers, and many other important communications, effectively shutting down the states.
I woke up this morning, had them Statesboro Blues.

Did you just happen to forget about the first ten words of the First Amendment? "Congress shall make no establishment of religion" to paraphrase. If I (an Athiest) was subjected to a school-wide prayer, I would kill.

You /can/ still pray, but don't force your screwed-up (IMHO) beliefs on me. You got that? Thanks.

Oh...the Holy(er) than thou crowd? Heh, come live in the bible belt, its interesting to say the least. My opinion is that religion is between you and your maker, no need to flaunt it, or make overtures when none are wanted. Help when ya can, but otherwise, its a personal thing IMO.
