multiple windows
multiple windows
somehow i have obviously changed some setting somewhere that keeps me from opening multiple windows. if i minimize a few windows and then have one open, i can't maximumize the windows that are at the bottom. i have to minimize the open one before i can max. another one. it's not a real big deal i guess but it's terribly aggrivating. any ideas ? ? ? ? ?

Try starting with only one window open, then right-click a link/url then choose Open In New Window, DON'T maximize it! Go back and close the first window, (you have to do this or it doesn't work) go to the new window and drag it to the size you want DON'T use Maximize button, then close the window. Tell me if this doesn't get ya fixed...
thanks ken but that didn't do it. upon messing around with it a little more, i think it is something to do with my mouse. i got 3 small windows open on my desktop at the same time. they were kinda on top of each other but you could see part of each window. which ever window i touched with the pointer would come into focus without me clicking on it. i don't think that's normal is it? ? ? i went to control panel and checked the mouse/pointer properties but i don't see anything about that. any more ideas? ? ?

OMG - this is soo damn frustrating. it has to be a windows setting. i uninstalled the mouse in device manager. it reinstalled when i rebooted. still does the same thing. let me try to explain again what it does.
example:
i open IE and have a webpage on screen.
i open kazaa to listen to some music while browsing.
kazaa opens on top of IE and the mouse pointer is in the kazaa window.
all is fine but if i move the mouse out of the kazaa window, it minimizes automatically.
now the web page is back on the screen and there is a kazaa tab at the bottom of screen.
if i click on the kazaa tab, the kazaa window opens back up. it will stay open as long as i leave the mouse pointer on the tab. if i move the pointer up towards the kazaa window, as soon as it gets out of the task bar, the kazaa window minimizes again.
to get to kazaa, i have to close or minimize IE and then there is the kazaa window on my desktop.
i just used IE & kazaa as an example. i don't think it has to do with either of them. the same think happens with all apps & windows. it's like i can't have but one window open at a time.

You are not going to want to hear this, but I bet geting rid of KaZzA will solve your problems...
KaZzA is bad spyware, and it also overwrites many of your drivers...
The worse news is uninstalling it isn't as easy as it sounds. give me a few and when I get a chance I will give you links that will explain exactly what has happened, which drivers have been changed, etc...

I'm sorry SVO, I got busy with other things and forgot about ya!
OK, KaZzA, let's go:

(check the referenced links in the thread...
)
http://scumware.com/threadsearch/search ... erms=kazza
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=kazza+spyware
Just run through some of these sites and you will find some good info.
I will try to check this thread and give some more specifics later.
I have got to run over to the boat and put in some window blinds and such as she will be heading to the Bahamas for spring in a few days. The boat is at Clearwater Marina and it is spring break now, if I don't get outta here now, it will take me 2 1/2 -3 hours to make a 45 minute trip. (And no matter what, the boat has GOT to be ready to go as them big blue marlin are already callin' me!
)
Give this a bump tonight so I can catch it.
l8rz,
Ken

Sorry that I keep leaving you hanging.
If you uninstalled KaZza, and have run AdAware, you might try repairing IE.
But a question does come to mind, what other type Browser helpers are you using, Morpheus, Down load accelerators, etc.
The majority of problems are from browser add ons..
I do not know of a setting that would do what you are describing.
Does this happen only when on the net, or the same when you are in Windows Explorer?
