DSL soooo Slow today?

Everything is loading like I am on a 28.8K modem today. I checked with my ISP and they say that everyting is running normal today. The tech asked some basic questions and then blamed the whole thing on KaZaA and Morpheus, saying that there "spy" ware loads your system up even when it is not enabled. True? I have never herd this and I have had both on my system for a while with no problems.
I have all the current drivers installed and the tweak patch for Win2K.

I called my ISP again to call them on the whole thing and I got a recording saying that local servise was up and running fine but Internet outside of provence is experiancing heavy loads and that this would cause slow loading of pages and high ping times for games.
I wish I would have made a note of the tech's name who was feeding me the lines.

kazaa is spyware!!!

when i installed kazaa my bandwidth was about 400-600 for the first 500 Megs i have downloaded. today i only have a bw of 89. i thought that couldnt be. someting must wrong with my telephone line or my win2k. in case of this i have visited their board

i have runned then the adaware soft from
http://www.lavasoftusa.com which one removes the spyware. the scan found 43 entries!!!
after that i tried to start kazaa again. nada, it wont start anymore. so i´ve installed the kazaa again to see whats happen.
my bw was then only 35!!!
this really sux.
i start the adaware soft again to remove that crap and then uninstall the kazaa completely. then i´ve removed some registry entries and files from my hd.
after that i go to http://www.musiccity.com to get the similiar morheus soft which contains no spyware. i ve checked that with adaware and it really dont have it.
but my bw is still on 89...
i cant understand this. maybe the ****ty kazaa soft has done some registry entries which havent found yet. but i stay on this!
i have found an entry on

which contains an registry entry to change.
i did this but still same prob, only 89 bandwidth AND i cant register there!
but if you try to register there, the server will connect later and you can look 4 files unregistered!

Wonderful, after a reboot now the Bandwidth goes up to 485 and my download rate is about 750kbit/s or about 90KB/s
now i have d/L some stuff with morpheus, about 300megs and my bandwidth is again at 170, its confusing me. i have found other registry entries:
HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-854245398-1957994488-1343024091-500\Software\Morpheus\Morpheus\Download Width
and
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Morpheus\Bandwidth\in
where i cant edit the bandwidth.
everytime i change, after a reboot or a relogin with morpheus, some prog change them again.
maybe someone find any hints on that.
be careful to remove the newdot_net.dll in WINNT\
you have to do lots of binary changings with the regeditor!!!
otherwise no internet access!!!

you can actually use ad-aware and delete everythang xcept the file name 'cydoor cd_clint.dll'
cuz that is use by kazaa.

A lot of spyware is starting to attach itself to your Windows system files (i.e. Winsock), so even when you uninstall all the files which were installed, it's still there, virtually impossible to remove.

Before long there will be a class action lawsuit regarding these type of programs.

I have the same problem with morpheus as does everyone else who uses it. The problem lies in the fact that you don't know who you are DLing from ( ie 28.8, 33,3, 56K, Cable or DSL ) plus the fact that you have no way of telling how many hops you are from the person you are DLing from.

Keep in mind that no matter how fast your connection might be you are only as fast as the slowest connection.

Napster solved this problem by allowing you to see how fast the other person was connected at and the number of hops the file would have to pass through before reaching you.

If just one of the other connections ( ie Servers - Hops ) was real slow for some reason or another your DL speed would suffer.
