Iwil XP333-R

Here's the Product Page on it: http://www.iwillusa.com/products/spec.a ... SupportID=

I'm going to look up reviews on it tonight

Here's the key points:

(The kicker that is shocking)
Chipset: ALi MAGiK 1 M1647 (C-version) chipset :D
John is cool :D
ALi M1535D+ (South Bridge) :D

Main points:

Duron/T-bird/XP support, on the box it lists that it even supports XP 1900+ which shows it's a very current mobo and chipset

It has the High Point 372 ATA/133 RAID controller on it just like the Abit KR7A-RAID

It's native ON board IDE supports 33/66/100/133 yes, 133. I haven't seen a native on board IDE supporting ATA/133 yet, but this one has it.

It supports DDR333!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1111 Yep PC2700 DDR ;)

It has 3 dimms that support up to 3GB of PC2700 DDR333 yummy, what I gotta find out is if the mem bus is independently controlled from the FSB, cause then you could run the mem at 166 and keep the FSB at 133, I'll check on that.

I have to run to work now, but when i get home tonight, this baby is going in my main system, and I'll give it a whirl. Been a long while since i've owned an Ali Magic chipsetted board ;)

but boy is this board loaded with features

we can compare mem bandwidth scores and all and see where this board stands, i bet it would be pretty good with some DDR333 (pc2700 modules) :p

Here's a picture of it

Wow, look how much space there is around the CPU, plenty of room for a large heatsink, and to get your fingers around to get heatsinks off and on easier

Image

It DOES support the Independent FSB from Mem Bus, and it supports up to 233Mhz FSB in increments of 1Mhz :D

Here is 1 review I just found:

http://www.ocworkbench.com/hardware/iwi ... leryp1.htm

Note there IS a newer BIOS out already from when that review was done, it came out in December with 'enhanced performance' so of course i'll flash it when i get it installed.

Another Review:

http://www.vr-zone.com/reviews/IWill/XP333-R/

it has a 1/6th PCI divider

He got his to a 205Mhz FSB stable

Better hope that's not true.

I'm sure you'll figure out a way to OC it.
Simply run adaware, spybot, ZoneAlarm, HijackThis, AVG, update windows daily, have a router, don't open e-mail, turn off action scripting, don't use P2P networks, don't violate EULAs, and wear a condom to get Windows secured.

I really like my IWILL KA266R motherboard. It almost looks like th one you bought. However, mine will support the ATHLON XP.

My system:
INWIN Q500 10 bay tower
IWILL KA266R @140Mhz
Athlon 1.2 Ghz @ 1.33 Ghz (Had it to 1.42Ghz once!)
384 Mb DDR RAM (Crucial)
ATI RADEON VIVO 64M DDR cloked to 200Mhz
40 Gb drive space - 2- 20Gb Western Digital 7200RPM RAID 0
CTX 19 inch Monitor
O/S WIN XP PRO
Other stuff you can't live without(burner,scanner,printer...etc..)

Good Luck Brent.......

I wanted this board really bad until they announced it would have the ALi chipset. *yuk*

Phantom, I don't know what Iwill mobos you've had before, but my KK266 with the Via KT133A chipset is rock solid and overclocks like a champ. When it came out, reviews stated it was more stable than Abit and Asus competitors.

I'm hopefully waiting on a Via 266a mobo for Iwill.

I bought this thing cause i was mad

I broke my KG7 I wanted to put in my main system, so I got mad and ran to Frys to get good damned motherboard for my main computer finally, I was tired of using a slow crap ORINGLAL first revision MSI K7T266, the one with the transistor out of place so the mem bandwidth was to that of SDRAM, so i wnated a good board

I really wanted to get the Epox KT266A motherboard, but they didn't have it yet, it said "Coming Soon", so then I looked for Sis 735 mobos, they only had one and it was an ECS and I didn't want that brand, so then I saw this one, it was loaded with features and that caught my eye, the fact that it uses Ali though made me wonder, so I thought what the hell, and bought it cause i was in a hurry :P

Abit's RMA rate is still increasing :(

IMO they really need to start listening to people and pull through, there is way to much return rate on their mobos, and it's showing that it's increasing.....

They better get with the program, or leave it to those that can

I love Abit, i've always bought Abit in the past, cause in the past they use to be good

but currently, I'm seeking out other options

the MSI boards for one, though I don't like the Promise controller on em

Epox boards are excellent

Iwill is good

Soyo maybe even, i might give them another look at

Asus

If frys had had the Epox KT266A mobo in I would have gotten that one

Hell I'm even looking at the Sis 735 :D

There's a lot to choose from, so Abit better strart making competition or get out of the pak, their boards are usually priced high anyways.....

I'd still love to own an Abit KR7A, but with other options out there, and high price from Abit, and high RMA rate, I'm weary, and Have put a hold on grabbing a KR7A for now..... Gotta re-examine my situation and what I need

but for now I got this new Iwill XP333-R to play with hehe

Running at 150Mhz FSB (300Mhz DDR speed) at Cas2 right now :p

I've got an unlocked 1.4 t-bird in here, which i have lowered the multiplier to keep it as close o 1.4Ghz as I can cause I don't have a real good hsf on there right now, it cools it fine at 1.4Ghz but anything over is not stable

so i'm running 9.5 x 150 right now :p

so far so good!

i'm gonna reach for more and get the new bios for this board which has 'enhanced performance' then i'll post my mem resuts

right now they aren't too good, even at 150Mhz fsb, so there is more tweaking to be done

it seems in synthetic tests like Sandra its slower

but in real world games and apps and benchmarks it's FASTER then a KT266A mobo!!!!!!!111

Problems with this board:

1) Using 1/5 or 1/6 PCI dividers causes mem bandwidth to take a dive, making the gain in FSB useless cuz the lower bandwidth cancels it out, or you could try to run @ 180Mhz+ with a 1/4 divider and hope your PCI cards don't fry.... but from what I read, the new bios version doesn't allow you to adjust the dividers manually anymore....

2) Itz an ALi chipset, more compatibility problems, and slower fixes

3) Memory benches are lower than KT266A boards, and no, the KT266A still beats it in gaming benches, look here

Iwill kix ass, but the chipset just isn't as fast as Via's. The KR7A-Raid is only $65 CAD ($42 USD) more than the XP333 for me in local stores, and i'm gettin 1 tomorrow. Theres way more support for the KR7A, like modded BIOS that updates the Raid controller to the newest BIOS, lots of hidden tweaks and such, and yes, the KR7A supports ATA133 via the southbridge as well, like the XP333.

I just bought a KR7A-Raid with an AthlonXP 1600+, AGKGA Week 45, i hope itz very overclockable, since AGKGA chips are the best. Gonna order a new waterblock from dangerden as well, waiting for my dad's flight to arrive in 2 hours cuz he bought me 2 sticks of KingMax DDR300 256MB :D

Terrance, prices are not inflated, a KR7A-Raid costs about $160 from online stores in the states, thats $256 CAD, I paid $266 for mine which is cheaper than buying online cuz shipping will cost way more than $10 CAD...

The CPU i got for $200 CAD, online stores cost $120 USD which translates to $192 CAD, again, cheaper than buying online. Now I just need to unlock the bastard.... argh, the bridges are so FUKIN SMALL!!!!!!!

The ram my dad bought in HK, about $90 CAD per stick which is DAMN cheap for DDR300, costs $70 USD per stick in online stores.
