lag on cable modem/win2k

Post by kidd »

hi guys... i'm not really sure what's going on... but here's my settings...

i got a linksys ethernet card
connected to a linksys 4port router
and that's connected to my tobisha road runner cable modem

now my current MTU speed is 1500
MSS is 1460
and RWIN is 513920

all my other settings are that of those i used the cable/dsl tweaks on this site for win2k...

but for some reason... everytime i do something... my connection kinda lags for a while before it does anything

i.e. say i go to http://www.speedguide.net i press enter...
normally it'll take a sec or something to load (under win98se)
but now... it hangs for 10-15 secs before it starts to load the page... not only that... but the speed is kinda slow

i check my network status for the cable company... everything checked out fine...
i used the other pc's on my lan network that's hooked up to the linksys router... they all seem to browse fine... but mine seems to hang a bit and sometimes won't load the page...

anyone have any idea what might be the cause of this prob?

Please post some traceroutes so we can look into it for you. Trace these sites if you wish:

omarnyc.com
pcmaglabs.com

You can do this by doing the following:

Click Start, Run. Type COMMAND. In that command prompt window, type the following:

C:\WINDOWS\TRACERT OMARNYC.COM > c:\trace1.txt
C:\WINDOWS\TRACERT PCMAGLABS.COM > c:\trace2.txt
C:\WINDOWS\TRACERT TYPEA.NET > c:\trace3.txt
C:\WINDOWS\TRACERT TELOCITY.COM > c:\trace4.txt

First two sites reside in the East coast, third one in the Mideast, fourth in the West. Helpful for looking into any routing or network issues. Copy and paste all four text files in here, change the first hop so no one sees your IP address.
