Post by GypsyFool »

I can't figure out what the problem is.On tests, everything appear fine.Yet I still have problems with page rendering and general web surfing.I don't know if it is my computer, firefox, or just Embarq?

Looking at the status bar, it is slow connecting and slow as well transfering the data. don't know if that would be strictly a browser problem or not.As is, there are some things i don't like about google chrome - there is no direct way to disable the autofill drop down which i have no use for, nor is there a way to disable the spell check which again i have no use for.Sites also aren't loading or rendering any faster.

Could it be I have Windows firewall, as well as router firewall? or would that not do anything for speed?

Google Chrome :
Disable the autofill drop down :
# Option > Under The Hood > UNTICK "Use a suggestion ...."

Disable the spell check :
# Option > Under The Hood > Change Font & Language Settings > Language > UNTICK "Check Spelling"

Windows Firewall & Router Firewall, ACT Differently.
Don't Disable Router Firewall! but if ur AV already include Firewall, u can disable "Windows Firewall". (Use 1 Software Firewall)
U could replace ur Windows Firewall with other Firewall Software, if u choose an AV without Firewall.

I tried Google Chrome, but it still takes about 20 seconds before any page connection is made, let alone rendering is started.

I have all the drivers.

Wouldn't the Winsck fix thing just reset everything meaning i would have to tweak it all again?

Maybe i should try open dns? since im still having these problems after the reinstall, cant really be my computer, as i did a format install.

the cap on the cable is loose a bit, would that be causing some interference? only other thing i can think of.
