Get 490 kbps from 512 kbps ! I'd say your speed is optimum !

Downstream/Upstream have been set incorectly by ISP in your modem/router so they can get higher kbps !

You are using Win 7.

Tell us what speed you paid to get.

Also, do some speedtest and post.

Unfortunately, the performance has not been improved.

The good news is that I found an interesting presentation: http://sharkfest.wireshark.org/sharkfest.12/presentations/A-3_A-10_Tuning_Win7_Using_Wireshark_TCP_Stream_Graph_a_Case_Study.pdf

No it did not, but this is very clear in presenting the problem.
I still at square one, with lots of tests, and configs with Windows PC-s the perform poorly with TCP. Meanwhile, any Linux is 30 times faster. ;)

do as I said before along with this registry and you'll see a real improvement!

netsh int tcp set heuristics wsh=disabled
netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=highlyrestricted
netsh int tcp set global congestionprovider=ctcp

Code: Select all

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

; Enable Window Scaling

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\Tcpip\Parameters]
"Tcp1323Opts"=dword:00000001

; Enable Congestion Provide(CTCP) and ENC Capabilities

[code]
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Nsi\{eb004a03-9b1a-11d4-9123-0050047759bc}\0]
"0200"=hex:01,00,00,00,01,00,00,07,00,dd,6d,00,e8,03,00,00,1e,00,00,00,00,00,\

It was tried on a machine. You can see the results.
Before: http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/3586775094
After: http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/3586835086

The circuit is 155Mbps capacity - full duplex.
The circuit was loaded only by 60Mbps download

My role is that of a support engineer at an ISP. ;)

I think I have found one more difference I have not checked earlier. The windows machines in question are using 64 bit version of Windows.
