Huawei E220 USB Modem 3G/HSDPA/GPRS/EDGE>>>Do you think the result can be improved?

Post by napsters »

After use a TCP/IP Optimizer and workaround little bit, i figured it out how very useful this program
and its really-really works to me and see the improvement woow thats great so I'd be very thankful if someone with more knowledge
take a look on the tests below.

Do you think the result can be improved?

Thank you in advance!

1. What type of connection do you have? i.e. 56K, ISDN, DSL (PPPoE or not), Cable etc.

3G/HSDPA - Huawei E220 USB Modem 3G/HSDPA/GPRS/EDGE
I use 3G/HSDPA coverage

2. Who is your ISP and what is your advertised speed from them? i.e. Cox.net & 3000/256 - this is advertised in kilobits per second.

Celcom (Maximum speed 7.2Mbps)

3. What are your current settings now? Do a TCP/IP Analyzer Test and copy and paste the results (remember to XXXXX out your IP address) here.

Close all apps and run a speed test!

Log into your modem and check the Downstream/Upstream rate.

His TCP Window is probably not yet changed to 513920.

Check and see what operating system he is running. Could be Vista with autotuning disabled.

How does one log into their broadband modem?

Username:admin
Password :admin or 1234

then post the Downstream/Upstream rate, also post your new TCP Analyzer.

p/s: Their modem ? not yours ?

Use ipconfig command :

Start > Run > type cmd and enter > type ipconfig and enter. Then use Default Gateway address to log into your modem.

That's a 3G generation USB modem - an internet connection over a mobile phone line. It does not have a built-in router, nor can it be tweaked.

Post a new TCP Analyzer report to check RWIN.

Check signal quality with a tracert.

My current setting get 150kBps and about sometime its going to 200kBps max via BitComet...Should i setting again to get much more higher speed than this..? :thumb:
Anyways i should try and post a new TCP Analyzer report...

p/s* I use a BitComet v1.03 but something weird happen in my BitComet TCP/IP Limit on Current Half-Open Limit : This version of TCPIP.SYS is not supported to be modified (but the speed like 200kBps max), i use this fix EvID4226Patch223d-en and set half open connection to 100....must be have a some kind setting to make BitComet v1.03 fastest and max download speed... :)
Thanks for advise...

You have to set limits into the settings of BitComet.

Test speed at the nearest test server of http://www.speedtest.net.

The test servers listed at http://www.speedguide.net may be too far to you to give accurate results.

Seems you can get abut half of the subscribed speed. That's the nature of an internet connection over a mobile phone line. Much depends on your distant and clear line of sight to the cell tower and the clarity of the airwave.

Go to the forum of Kaspersky and ask members there for instructions to port forward Kaspersky for BitComet.

Make sure you disable UPnP port mapping in BitComet.

No. Your tracert shows no router.

Could be that part of Kaspersky is still present. Do another hijackthis log to check.

Also, clean up the comp registry with CCleaner.

You should be running some other antivirus and software firewall after uninstalling Kaspersky.

Try these free software:

AVG Antivirus
Comodo firewall

are you using windows vista by any chance? Also if you have the modem manual see if it has an mtu ,mru, and mss values if it does change them to this

1492 mtu
1492mru
1452 for mss

It could be that since you have an usb modem that your netowrk card is disabled ,or you don't have a network card install. Try the optimizer again ,and make sure modify all adapters is checked. :)

TCP Window is still set to only 32768.

Try the following with TCP Optimizer:

General Settings tab:
Custom settings - check
Modify All Network Adapters - check
network adapter selection - your NIC
MTU - 1440
TTL - 64
TCP Receive Window - 257600
MTU Discovery - Yes
Black Hole Detect - No
Selective Acks - Yes
Max Duplicate ACKs - 2
TCP 1323 Options:
Windows Scaling - checked
Timestamps - uncheck

Advanced Settings tab:
Max Connections per Server - 10
Max Connections per 1.0 Server - 20
LocalPriority - 1
Host Priority - 1
DNSPriority - 1
NetbtPriority - 1
Lan Browsing speedup - optimized
QoS: NonBestEffortLimit - 0
ToS: DisableUserTOSSetting - 0
ToS: DefaultTOSValue - 0
MaxNegativeCacheTtl - 0
NetFailureCacheTime - 0
NegativeSOACache Time - 0
LAN Request Buffer Size - 32768
Then select "Apply Changes" and reboot to take effect
"Contentment is not the fulfillment of what you want, but is the realisation of how much you already have" - anon

I got it working

Post by napsters »

I've been stuck manually changing my rwin value in the registry, yet every test still showed it as the default value. I also use Kaspersky, and unchecking Port 8080 worked like a charm.

p/s*I got it working disabling port 8080 from being used by mail anti-virus, web anti-virus, privacy control etc.
Anyway to disable this port go under configuration-traffic monitoring-port configurations and uncheck "Http general 8080".

Thanks anyoNe fOr adviSe :thumb:

With certain types of dsl the mtu can be 1500 for pppoa
PPpoe uses 1492

if you have xp 1480 should work good for both in most cases my suggestion is this call the isp make sure that the mtu value is correct for there network it could be what is slowing a lot of you on this post up... Consult the modem manual on how to change the mtu, or the mode of the modem some modems if you change the mode it's in the mtu can change as well Some modems are modem+routers if your modem has an ethernet port use that instead of the usb. If you don't have the mnaul for the modem the isp should be able to walk you though on how to change it.

after you called the provider about the mtu change the registry keys to the appropriate mtu value http://support.microsoft.com/kb/283165
