Right now fear mongering is pretty much all the Republican Party has in their attempts to keep control of the White House. They spend more time bashing Obama then they do praising their guy. That system will not work at all come this fall. In fact unless they start doing a better job pointing out the good in McCain they will lose undecided voters who are getting tired of their antics.
Although McCain won't get my vote there is some things about him that I like. Maybe my expectations are lowered because of what we have dealt with over the last 8 years, but I think McCain or Obama would be a vast improvement over Bush. That said my former Party is the masters of smear and they will spend more time using the name "Barack Hussein Obama" and making Muslim hints then they likely will telling us all the great things that they believe can come from a McCain presidency.

It's something I've just started wondering on my own...nothing to do with the repubs. Mud slinging has been around a long time, we know they bash the opponents..this is old news, the tactics come not as a surprise..to me.
Early in the race I was leaning towards Obama, but enough "odd" questions have come up about him that make me pause and revisit the vote..heck..enough now even to pull back the vote.

I can respect your views. Not sure I can really offer you up anything new about Obama though. His father was a Muslim as I understand it, but the extent of which it has affected his decisions seems to be next to nothing. His faith is Christianity and other then Fox News/Republican spin saying otherwise I haven't seen anything that would remotely raise any real legitimate questions about him.
I think the reason the thread took a turn for the worse is because honestly the Muslim thing is weak at best and downright malicious at worst. It's the epitome of all that is bad about politics. Not to mention there is an element of prejudice involved in this as if to suggest that a Muslim is a terrible thing.

Many campaigns are designed to press details and twist words to fool the less educated (include the haplessly arrogant ), hence my IQ comment. I perceive this "revelation" as such and it should serve as no surprise to the Democratic party. I still see Obama as a weak candidate.

Ok...so after reading your post a few times....I can give you this answer.
Muslims do not normally allow their picture to be taken because they fear that it is stealing their soul. So with that in mind, it could be possible that the Obama camp didn't want to insult the Muslims of the country and of the world by inadvertently allowing pictures of these women to be taken.
Another possibility and more likely a real answer is this: Women who wear the headscarves are not normally to be considered "liberated". So what in the world would Obama be doing in a picture with women who are not truly free? The connotation is that the conservative dress of a Muslim woman is equal to Radical Islam.
As David so aptly stated, the median IQ is 100. Are most Americans able to discern between the two? Nuns have a certain dress code....do we consider them radicals?
Most American Muslim conservative women enjoy western freedom but choose NOT to participate fully in it's culture out of respect for their Muslim heritage.
That is why I posted the pic I made.....because alot of folks see Muslim headscarf wearing women as part of the global Islamic jihad movement.

Well said. It's pretty clear Bush has royally screwed things that's for sure. Clearly Obama's name and his race is a factor for some people.

Your right, and I think Obama is the next JFK. His words shake the bones of to many deep rooted companies and they plan to assasinate physically or politically any man/women that test those grounds. I hope he wins. He is as corrupt as the rest, but he speaks like a man that should lead your country in a new direction.

The Iraq war is many things, primarily theft. It would not be Obama's fault for the mess he inherited (Like Carter), however he would be expected to exercise fiscal restraint to right America's economic ship (something that did not happen under Carter's reign).
As for healthcare..... yes, the US does need to do something about it. However, your southern cousins live in a different land, with a larger population and a very different governing system.

My neighbors are from Minnesota and she is 5 months pregnant. Besides the fact she has a PHD and him a Masters degree, do they have to worry about if her ureterus flips inside out when she gives birth, NO, not because she's covered by insurance but because our country with look after her.
