Don't need insults or insinuations about it solely coming from a republican side..nor IQ counts (PS david..you're not the only one to go post college in degrees )
...and...oh yeah....earlier on in the elections I came out of the gates intending to vote for him.
It's not a knock against you I just think it's the kind of story that comes up when there is nothing of real substance for news organizations to spin. Right now fear mongering is pretty much all the Republican Party has in their attempts to keep control of the White House. They spend more time bashing Obama then they do praising their guy. That system will not work at all come this fall. In fact unless they start doing a better job pointing out the good in McCain they will lose undecided voters who are getting tired of their antics.
Although McCain won't get my vote there is some things about him that I like. Maybe my expectations are lowered because of what we have dealt with over the last 8 years, but I think McCain or Obama would be a vast improvement over Bush. That said my former Party is the masters of smear and they will spend more time using the name "Barack Hussein Obama" and making Muslim hints then they likely will telling us all the great things that they believe can come from a McCain presidency.

It's something I've just started wondering on my own...nothing to do with the repubs. Mud slinging has been around a long time, we know they bash the opponents..this is old news, the tactics come not as a surprise..to me.
Early in the race I was leaning towards Obama, but enough "odd" questions have come up about him that make me pause and revisit the vote..heck..enough now even to pull back the vote.
Was just looking for a knowledgeable answer from someone with good insight into the Muslim religion...we've had some intelligent insight on that subject in the past, was just hoping to see one here. But it appears the thread took some wild mushrooms..might as well delete it.

A political Circus. America does it like no other. Does your current Prez have trapeze skills or can he jump through a flaming hoop? The name Bush makes me horny! Right on I like him! lol

I can respect your views. Not sure I can really offer you up anything new about Obama though. His father was a Muslim as I understand it, but the extent of which it has affected his decisions seems to be next to nothing. His faith is Christianity and other then Fox News/Republican spin saying otherwise I haven't seen anything that would remotely raise any real legitimate questions about him.
I think the reason the thread took a turn for the worse is because honestly the Muslim thing is weak at best and downright malicious at worst. It's the epitome of all that is bad about politics. Not to mention there is an element of prejudice involved in this as if to suggest that a Muslim is a terrible thing.

“Governor Stevenson, all thinking people are for you!” And Adlai Stevenson answered, “That’s not enough. I need a majority."
Many campaigns are designed to press details and twist words to fool the less educated (include the haplessly arrogant ), hence my IQ comment. I perceive this "revelation" as such and it should serve as no surprise to the Democratic party. I still see Obama as a weak candidate.

Senator Obama's birth name is Barack, Barry was a nickname. I am not certain he ever made any changes.
What questions do you have regarding Islam?

Ok...so after reading your post a few times....I can give you this answer.
Muslims do not normally allow their picture to be taken because they fear that it is stealing their soul. So with that in mind, it could be possible that the Obama camp didn't want to insult the Muslims of the country and of the world by inadvertently allowing pictures of these women to be taken.
Another possibility and more likely a real answer is this: Women who wear the headscarves are not normally to be considered "liberated". So what in the world would Obama be doing in a picture with women who are not truly free? The connotation is that the conservative dress of a Muslim woman is equal to Radical Islam.
As David so aptly stated, the median IQ is 100. Are most Americans able to discern between the two? Nuns have a certain dress code....do we consider them radicals?
Most American Muslim conservative women enjoy western freedom but choose NOT to participate fully in it's culture out of respect for their Muslim heritage.
That is why I posted the pic I made.....because alot of folks see Muslim headscarf wearing women as part of the global Islamic jihad movement.

Well said. It's pretty clear Bush has royally screwed things that's for sure. Clearly Obama's name and his race is a factor for some people.

Shouldn't it be you vote him/her as President for what they do, not who they are? I know you know, I'm just saying.

Finally...a serious answer. Interesting....tnx. So that being said....one could surmise that Obamas support team was being..hmmm...."religiously aware".

I'd go one step beyond royally screwed. Nobody looks to the root of his leadership though, that's just water under the bridge. That's what really drives a pole in my Canadian ass. It's like the leader of the most powerful counrty in the world did EVERYTHING wrong, even possibly committed war crimes, but shame on Clinton who had the economy at it's best but oh damn you got a blow job. It's a circus to the outsider.

Americans tend to judge based on perception rather than reality.
The perception of headscarf wearing Muslim women sharing the same physical space as Obama sent chills down the spines of his staff...because they knew that the media would spin it as "support" for the radical Islamist movement. Post 9/11 America is staunchly anti-Muslim and for all the wrong reasons.
This is all part of the Republican strategy....to keep McCain quiet and out of the spotlight for as long as possible....let Obama destroy himself.
Most people have already forgotten what an angry and ill tempered man McCain really is. But I'm sure his true colors will come out during the debates. And that is when it will all go south for McCain because Obama can shake this off over the summer.....McCain will not be able to escape himself since election time will be very close. The only stuff fresh in people's minds will be how McCain reacts while under pressure.
YeOldeStonecat wrote:Finally...a serious answer. Interesting....tnx. So that being said....one could surmise that Obamas support team was being..hmmm...."religiously aware".
Yes, and I think they calculated each risk. Letting people wonder why Muslim women were not allowed to be photographed is much less risky than allowing it and removing all doubt lol.

I would consider it one of many serious answers already given.

Your right, and I think Obama is the next JFK. His words shake the bones of to many deep rooted companies and they plan to assasinate physically or politically any man/women that test those grounds. I hope he wins. He is as corrupt as the rest, but he speaks like a man that should lead your country in a new direction.
UOD wrote:Yes, and I think they calculated each risk. Letting people wonder why Muslim women were not allowed to be photographed is much less risky than allowing it and removing all doubt lol.
No I meant respect towards the womens side, and respect for them and their religion.
Easy enough to figure they would rather stop the pictures...damage control weighted calculation...
which over 75% of the public might wonder if they saw the pictures...
versus rile up the barely 10% of the public which finds out they stopped the women.

I'm with ya man. Not much I can say though. There is an element of hypocrisy that comes from these situations.

Your theoretically one of the richest countrys in the world that just poored HUNDREDS of BILLIONS into a foreign land that hates you (can't even get into the horrendous details).
What financial debt could this man do that his predosessor hasn't done? He could smoke crack, lose his mind and hand out tulips to every citizen of the world and still not do the damage your current president has.

The Iraq war is many things, primarily theft. It would not be Obama's fault for the mess he inherited (Like Carter), however he would be expected to exercise fiscal restraint to right America's economic ship (something that did not happen under Carter's reign).
As for healthcare..... yes, the US does need to do something about it. However, your southern cousins live in a different land, with a larger population and a very different governing system.
