Thanks for the update.Forgetful wrote:Though she's caught a bug, staph, and is in isolation her spirits and eating are both good. Can't be fun spending this much time in hospital when the estimate was a lot less but i do feel those two thing are most important. Still no news on a release date but she misses all of you and sends her love.

Hurry up Misty!Forgetful wrote:Hello again. The news is that she's definitely on the mend! Her family are much more confident now she'll make in through and be home soon. Once more best wishes to her SG friends and with a little luck it won't be too long before she posts in person.
I had a feeling I'd find an update this morn. I'm glad it's good news.
Thanks for the update.

Thanks for the update.Forgetful wrote:Yet more good news on the recovery front! Tink's strength continues to grow as does her independence. The eating is still good too and whilst no date has been given her family feel at least that day is now in sight. Still missing her SG buddies and maybe soon a mail or thread.

What a totally heartwarming fantastic supportive thread to return home too..wow...what a ride! Thank you ever so kindly Jim for keeping every one posted. I must say, this was one hell of a journey...if someone else says Murphys Law...or just breathe...just one more time...I might havta scream!!
I hit trouble right off the bat and so yet once again the actual surgery procedure was changed at the very last second..a complete by pass was done on both legs, the iliac artery in the left, and the femerol in the right leg..while they were investigating other possible probable trouble areas, an aneurism was in fact discovered, which caused them to slice me open from hip to hip across the stomach, along with two 7 inch slashes each, in each leg.
From that point I went into shock twice after the first set of transfusions, which slammed me back and forth into icu a total of 3 seperate times. They could not get me stablized at all, and was told I did in fact "check out" several times within the first few days. A secondary transfusion of two more units of blood...helped stablize me to some degree but not enough, followed by pnemonia in the left lung, a tap of both lungs to relieve some fluid..then a staph infection in the right femeral artery graft area...which is still open and not healed...back to shock....back to intensive care, and a slow struggle up from there. No foods for 10 days did not exactly boost my strength either, nor no rest...forced oxygen, etc.
Now we battle the infection in the right leg....but at least it is at home! Yahoo!! A nurse will come in daily for the next couple of weeks...with physical therapy done here as well....I had that part up and going before they ever got to me in the hospital!! lol! I had one awesome bunch of caretakers in that hospital....God Bless the nursing crew...and I will be forever blessed by their kindness, caring and support...I am eternally grateful to an extemely overworked crew, under appalling conditions, which I will speak of later...and several of them are still monitoring me on their own time, with calls and support by phone and email. Unreal!!
Sleeping averaged about 2 hours a night with all that was happening, and that was for the entire 27 days that I remained in the hospital....lets keep our fingers crossed that...that part is at least over! It could flip back the other way just as quickly however...so please keep those prayers going...and I so thank you for them! My Guardian Angels have been very very busy!!! Whew!!
I keep walking around singing...happy feet! happy feet!! I can feel my feet again...throbbing pounding pulses...woo hoo!! and I forgot that I was even ever ticklish! Sensational feeling once again...the goal? why dance with and to Saturday Night Fever again! I took a fancy jump rope to the hospital with me along with some of the other focal tooks packed aboard....including the speedguide critters and chops...and I will do BOTH again too....iffen the Good Lord is willin'
Recovery will be long and slow...however I have both the time and the patience granted for me to do that with once again. I will be here off and on, but for the next two weeks...the order of the day from the Doc...easy does it! Rest, eat and gather strength. And am I ever eating! I think they pitched me out of the hospital because they could no longer afford to feed me!
Back to that resting! Hugz....

So the chop is appropriate?MissTynker2 wrote:What a totally heartwarming fantastic supportive thread to return home too..wow...what a ride! Thank you ever so kindly Jim for keeping every one posted. Another final update
Tink disobeyed doctors orders, it was a knocking bet she would, and did far too much on her first day or two after release. She's now under doctors orders again to take it easy and this note is just to let you know she sends her thanks once again to her SG friends.
She better listen to the doctors so that she can heal properly!!!!Forgetful wrote:Tink disobeyed doctors orders, it was a knocking bet she would, and did far too much on her first day or two after release. I've sensed something wrong for the past 2 days. I haven't heard from Misty since around 3am her first night back. Since then- No messenger and no email, and no reply to email.Forgetful wrote:Tink disobeyed doctors orders, it was a knocking bet she would, and did far too much on her first day or two after release. I was about to pm Debbie, feeling someone needs to call Misty at home- then I saw this update.
