Hi Jamie Thanks for the check in :) Still hanging in there...well, mostly anyhow! Awaiting the Dr.s appt. now to set up the surgeries on the legs, that is supposed to happen this week sometime. Then we go from there. I will be eternally grateful when SOMETHING finally gets accomplished besides bungles!! You sound well...and busy. I am pleased for you. Have a great day, and don't stay gone so long! I see Round Eye has returned as well....what a sweet treat that is too! :)

Small update here guys. The consultation and set up for surgery, has now been postponed until next week, sometime....exact day as yet, unknown. It seems as if this is and has gone on forever, for one reason or another. I have learned through all of this delay however, that when I get soooo impatient, the Powers that be, generally reveal to me why...and things are better because of it, and actually turn towards my benefit. From there...whatever day....surgery will be set up...then a short..(I hope!) wait for approval from the insurance...the last one actually came within 3 to 4 days...then on to the hospital.

Thanks for hanging in with me! I had no clue this would be such a long drawn out process. Lets hope VERY soon....I can smile and say "unsticky" me!!

Latest update

Well, signed my life away for the hospital yesterday, and the vampires struck again, hopefully for the last time. The delay has been such, that they wanted FRESH blood work. Told 'em I ain't got much left...they better make it count! lol!

The first surgery is scheduled for October 2d, IF I can get rid of this cold by then, if not, they will postpone it once again until I do. They just can't take the risk with all the "stuffens" that is going on, and at least this one I can understand and appreciate!

I will keep ya informed :)

Hiya Guys and Gals!

We have a partial success! It appears my legs will not be bionic after all, although he certainly tried to make them so. The blockage in the upper part of my groin, between the pelvic and the backbone is so severe that he could not get by them at all to implant the stents, then just to see if they were paying attention I suppose....I went into a bit of shock, oxegyn level dropped to 83, and temperature to 86..and the scramble was on! It appears I am still a "project"! ;)

New plan = after a rest up period from about 4 days to 2 weeks, I will go back in for a bypass surgery for both legs...the GOOD news is, that under those blockages the arteries are as clear as glass. The heart arteries appear to be clear as glass as well. So that is the next procedure. I don't wanna ask whats next!! ;) I would assume they will be looking at the problem with the apex in the heart, though I believe there is not much to be done there, and is not life threatening. Sooooo..yet another one or two specialists yet to be called in. I am so scattered now, be nice!!, file wise, that they never will catch up with me! ;)

I did have a great looking male nurse! Woo Hoo! I asked them if they were trying to polish me off with a heart attack!! Rest and heal up now for a few days is the order of the day, then a new appointment with a specialized cardio vascular surgeon for a new set up on the legs. It took some out of me for sure, but there were mixed blessings and have been throughout...Once they get all the surgeries done..its back to the cscans for a monitoring of all, including the carotids, the right one especially...but hey...60 percent is one heck of a lot better than the 90 percent closure first diagnosed! Whew!!

Thanks for all the kind thoughts gang, and the nice recovery card Jeff...its lovely. We are not out of the woods yet...but we ARE working on it! They will at least be able to fix both legs at the same time however, which will be a nice thing!!

Thanks Forgetful for the posting :) I told Jackie to keep it light when emailing you..and she did good!! I did survive!!

Smiles to ya gang!

I should be hearing today and tomorrow, what the new plan is, for when, and what new surgeon will be hopping on board the "Bionic" train! ;) Home services apparantly is trying to set up an in home care nurse to check on me daily after the bypass surgery....that will sure make it easier on me...no driving will be allowed anyway after the new surgery for who knows how long, and once again very limited activity allowed still. Come on guys!! I am ready for round 3 ! :p

Hiya gang!

Back in for more tests yet again the rest of this week....cheesh! I know my blood type is rare, but I would think their blood banks are overflowing now with all they have taken so far. Next week it appears that I am being set up with the surgeon, and will know at that point when round 3 is coming up! We GOTTA have ONE success here eventually! Thanks for the continuing support and interest. :)

Hiya Gang,

However slowly, the show is back on the road once again. I have an appt. on the 19th with my new cardiovascular surgeon...yet another place for files to get scattered..I fear..giggle! We will then at that time, and I am quite sure after some more testings of HIS choice, be scheduling the by pass surgery on my legs. Once it finally gets to this point, it usually goes pretty quickly. They wanted one more weeks space of healing from the last puncture attempt before proceeding. Is that a light I see off in the distance? Me thinks so!! :p

Enjoying your new dial up ghettoside? And you thought I was having fun all this time. NOT!!!! :)

No, not enjoying it. I absolutely despise it. :irate:

yups, now I see for myself how much fun it is.

:p

as for the bypass... let's hope they get the show on the road quickly.

Well....got the call from the new cardiovasular surgeon, whom I have not yet met...for new blood work...now why does that surprise me!!! giggle!! Iffen there is any left! I think they sold all the other samples to kids for halloween... ;)

This is probably going to sound really silly...after all this time, but here goes. I am really anxious for this new appointment Thursday, which is when I will meet the new Dr. brought into my case, on one hand...and the other is a fear factor, or the unknown factor, whichever you choose to call it.

Will I like him? Will I trust him? Do I want him to cut me wide open? And that is the only option I have left...for a total bypass to the legs. I will know instantly I suppose when I meet him, and make my choice at that time.

The strangest thing of all, thoughout all the delays, extra tests, lost papers, and bs...that this is the first time I have been really scared to the point that ...well...we don't really have to go there I suppose :D , but this is the last round...if its a no go...there is nowhere else to try.

Thanks ever so much again guys and gals of speedguide, for your support, and for hanging in there with me this long. If you have it in your heart...please pray just a bit longer for me..I still see the light at the end of the tunnel now :) ...ONE way or ANOTHER!!..and that is a GOOD thing!!

Misty,

Imho, the new surgeon ordering another test is ok.

Also... maybe he doesn't have a lot of confidence in your previous doctors' competence... I certainly have some doubts from what you've told me. lol, that's just speculation, but maybe that thought could help ease your apprehensions a 'lil until the appointment. ;)

Of course you're scared. Who wouldn't be?

Of course I'll keep praying for you, for whatever that's worth. In fact, I'm going to kick up the prayers a notch starting tonite. More prayer power on the way :)

You can always reach me on my cell 24 hrs... :coffee:

You have the will to survive, that's a huge edge. Where there's a will, there's a way... hang in there Misty.

Well today was my appointment with the cardiovascular surgeon...and needless to say the most interesting one I have had to date. There is a brand new game plan now, and for the first time, I have all the facts, scary as they might be.

Makes sense now why they could not get through the blockage to implant the stents...the blockage in the right groin area is in the femal artery...and is over 7 inches long. The left leg is the illiac artery. Cheesh! There are a couple of other narrowed areas as well lower in both legs.

A bypass will not be done just yet, because of the severity overall...if it fails..and the odds are high on that...then the rest of the arteries such as they are, will collapse.

The right leg is near gangrine at this point with no pulse whatsoever...so the new plan is...pre testing again, more on the heart this time to make sure I can withstand the long involved surgery coming up. That one I am fairly confident in, which they will set up tomorrow.

The new plan now for that area, is to go in...completely slit that artery for that seven inches....clean out as much as they can, sew it back together and then surround that entire area with a patch. Looks like I will be down with that one for a bit...if all goes well...that will feed the leg (they hope) with enough blood supply to actually get around the other narrowed areas. From there, if successful...they will go to the left groin area, then we play it by ear. If that fails...then no choice but to try the full by pass.

Looks like you guys might just be seeing a lot of me on these boards in the next few...however long. Lets just get this first one out of the way...I have been "stickied" long enough, don't ya think? ;) I am still a little "Mighty Mouse"! :thumb:

Misty,

Wow......that's a lot to deal with it, but if anyone can face it with courage and conviction, it's you. You're one of the strongest people I know.

Trust in yourself and in the many, many prayers being prayed for you. You are loved and cared about. Draw strength from that and from God. Neither one will let you down.

You know what? When I look at what you, Rivas, Ross, Ken and others have gone through, I think more of the blessings in my life and not the "stuff" that makes me unhappy.

All of you have given me a different perspective to focus on. Thank you!

My prayers are with you. :)
