I have played this game since last October, never had a single problem, that's until I downloaded v1.3, what a mess they have made, click join " it ctd ", get into a game goes good untill the next round than I get a "Your connection to the server has been lost" and goes back to the server list, does not crash though, anyhow the main reason for this message is to maybe ? help everyone who is getting totally you know what, like I have been for the last week, ready to go off my nut, I really hope this helps.
When you first go to play a game you have to click join, chances for me was 50 - 50 of a ctd, if or once you get into a game and it finishes and is ready to start the next round DO NOT PRESS JOIN, let the computer load itself into the next game, takes a little longer to do all you have to do than is choose your weapon etc, and press done, I have not been able to play many maps, until tonight I tried this out and ended up playing 14 games without a clitch or ctd, made my night will sleep in peace, let me know if this works for you. does this mean that there is a problem only when you click on the join button.

Been playing the game since it came out.

I don't have the lost connection issue but several of my clanmates do.

I do ctd on clicking the join button this has started happening after 1.3 but does'nt seem to have any regularity to it. I usually reboot after it happens then rejoin with no further problems.

I seen the original heading for this thread and wanted to offer my dmp file for examination. I have never reinstalled the game since initial install each patch was done incrementally but I ended up installing the full 1.3 over top of the incremental 1.3 in the hopes of fixing my issue sadly didnt work.

Here is everything from my dmp file zipped up and ready to go

BTW I'm =KHA= Gravy from http://www.KrackHouse.net
we have a 24/7 Wake ranked server and an SF ranked server up and going both are setup for forty players and are pretty heavily admined to keep the idiots at arm length.

You can now send all your crash data to EA as they are accepting it as part of the beta patch program.

BF2 Error

Post by VinnieDude »

colinhunt wrote:Here's one more, zipped (17KB).

BF2 crashes randomly to desktop, usually after 5-15 minutes of online play. Singleplayer with bots works a lot better, I can sometimes play for an hour without any problems. Singleplayer also doesn't crash to desktop, but the game freezes and graphics get futzed up (most of the screen turns black). Tapping ESC turns the entire screen black for a minute or so, and then the game re-appears and I can usually continue like nothing had happened. Have also had a singleplayer crash where screen turns totally black but I can hear the game sounds like nothing's wrong.

cheers,
:: colin

I have the same (bf2demo).
I tried to play bf in a window, and instead of just disapearing, i get errors, not one particular error, but everytime it's it says something else. The only things that are the same is that the one time it is the 'Particle System', and the other time 'RendDX9':

2 examples of the so many different errors i get:

1:

BF2 Error

Debug assertion failed!

Version: 1.0.2446.12 Build date:2005-6-7 15:42
Module: ParticleSystem
File:c:\dice\Projects\BF2Branches\BF2Demo\Code\BF2\Geom\ParticleSystem\Trailrenderer.cpp
Line: 645

Text: LockFailed

Current confile:

2:

BF2 Error

Debug assertion failed!

Version: 1.0.2446.12 Build date:2005-6-7 15:42
Module: RendDX9
File:c:\dice\Projects\BF2Branches\BF2Demo\Code\BF2\RendDX9\ShaderManager.cpp
Line: 108

Text: Previous effect: shaders/NonScreenAlignedParticles not ended.

Current confile:

Can someone help me out?

Vinnie it looks like your errors are video related, DirectX.
I'd make sure you're running the latest version of DirectX..visit windows update
And make sure you have the latest video card drivers for your machine..fully removing prior versions.

You definately need a driver update and is the video integrated into your motherboard?

Still serviceable if he cuts down everything to low setting , no AA and everything else....I know of crappier cards running it.

Hi,

This is my first post.
I never had crashes back to desktop or things like that. But since 1.4 i got alot ctd.

It is always the same. I play a round or two. But i ctd at the very latest third or fourth round. I wasnt able to play more than three rounds in a row since patch 1.4.

It is reproducable, i choose the spawn point, the round starts, spawn > ctd.
My system is rock stable, and i never had client caused problems since i started to play BF2 (patch 1.3).

I reinstalled windows, i tested on winxp_x64 too, i tested different drivers, i tested without ms-updates since sp2. No success.

I have alot dmp files, but how can i read them ? Is there a tool ?

greetz,
Johnny

sorry for my bad english, just ask if there is something you can´t understand.

try different graphic drivers..some are causing the CTD's conflicting with the patch from what I've seen.

I already tested older drivers.

And btw,

Code: Select all

D:\Aphrodite\BF2_1.4\Code\BF2\Game\Common\GhostManager.cpp(1350): Error: Common: state bits differs read:89 expected:76
[EOF]'
It is always the same error. It is strange, i dont have a drive "D:\" and i dont have a folder "Aphrodite".....

are you using something like Deamon tools to ghost a drive to play without the CD in a bay?

Yes i do, Daemon Tools.

And btw, I found the solution. I installed 1.3_full and 1.4_incremental. Instead of 1.4_full.
And the Aphrodite ctd are history. There must be something wrong with the 1.4_full package.

possible.. remove it and run off the disk for a while.. or try another image.
Also if your running DualCore make sure you have the right drivers installed I saw this happen once when I went dual.. plus run the optimizer.
