Strange result from Analyzer

Post by tumurbtr »

Hi!
From here, I ping http://www.speedguide.net (and other sites) with upto
1470 bytes length packets (no defragment flag is set). But TCP/IP Analyzer
says that my MTU/MSS are 1420/1380. Though my MTU set to 1500.
What is wrong?

You're probably behind a router that limitis your MTU... Some routers have a configurable MTU from their web-based management interface.

Pings use ICMP, so they might not be limited, maybe just TCP traffic gets the MTU changed.

I hope this helps.
