Which version of Linux???
I am about to take a step outside the Microsoft realm. I am planning on setting up a server with linux and apache. Which kind should I get, there are so many?
Thanks for the help,

Depends on the computer specs really. For a newer system, all the fancy fluffy graphics with the "boxed" distros with full blown KDE or Gnome desktopsare ok. For older systems, I say use Debian with a good window manager like Fluxbos and no full blown KDE or Gnome desktop. There are tons of good install guides on the web for all versions of linux. I second Tony's Debian vote. It's really not that hard to install. Gentoo is good once you get it compiled and configured. Out of all the ones I've played with Deb seems to strike a sweet spot. All the RPM based distro's I've run seem bloated and sluggish in comparison.
Now if Gentoo could eventually move allot of it's installation over to scripts than that would be awesome. Try playing with Knoppix at first that way you can get the feel for it without messing with your HD. From there you could install Kanotix or go for straight Deb. Libranet is another Deb based distro with a simple install.

It's all a matter of taste so you'll need to see what works best for you. Running on a separate drive is always a good suggestion but more so during the experimental phase of finding your flavor.
If you want a real OS I say break the trend and go with Plan9.
