It'll go up after they test it I'm sure. They tend to keep a large bandwidth buffer. It would be cool if they allowed you to choose a higher upload like 20/10

I'll be waiting for a sale too. I'm sure I'll need it when FIOS is available. Most of the town has it but our section, thanks to red tape, and free perks Comcast is heaping on our municipality.

When I called them to cancel service, they gave us a bunch of premium channels, DVR and Blast for $80 less than we were paying. It's only for a year, but that buys me time to explore other options. Here's a speed test over wifi

If you were to do just what you said, it would increase your knowledge for whichever distro meets your specific needs. I started with FreeBSD before I tried any nix, so by the time I tried one, the worse was behind me. From one, learn all, as they say. I haven't tried LFS myself ...

I'm sure there are, but I've never been a fan of it, or it's derivatives. They're contribution to the open source community has been fantastic though.

Like Tony said, once you cut your teeth on Ubuntu, it's best to move to it's root distro. Another option is trying different installs of Ubuntu ...

Grasses, (wheat, barley etc), and blue-green algae, (spirulina, chlorella etc), would also help feed the masses. Both are less costly and more energy efficient to produce, while exceeding the nutritional value of meat and vegetables combined. You can survive on the algae's alone, especially cracked ...

This is very cool indeed. DSL and Puppy also offer full distros that will fit on a flash drive. Very useful for troubleshooting, and messing around with. There was a BSD that was down to around 8MB. We used to burn it on eproms for embedded devices. It's common to find both of these OS's in routers ...
