Okay, I now have the server and all of the clients behind my ISB Router. the ISB is handling the NAT while my server is doing the DHCP and the DNS for the clients. Does this sound right?

Alright I'm taking your advice. For the router settings (ISB SOHO) what do I disable/enable? (NAT/DHCP/etc.) Just wondering... the NAT on the router IS the firewall, right?

Well, after it happened AGAIN, I actually gave support.microsoft.com a try, and lo and behold, there was my answer. I had a problem where my clients would try to access a server role before the actual role was ready on the server, therefore causing event errors in my event log.

Well I managed to get my internet working again, by doing a simple, but inefficient reinstall of Active Directory. I still have yet to find out what I did wrong. Any ideas?

Howwweevverr.. I've managed to somehow cut out the internet connection from every computer (even the server) from just installing my printer. What did I do wrong? The server server can't even access the internet, and the cable modem is directly connected to it!

I see you're trying to allow mIRC dcc. Have you checked the settings in your mIRC client (right port, disable file ignores, etc.)?

Well after some reading...I've managed to get the server to act as a Domain controller, DHCP, DNS, Streaming Media, NAT server... :D

I was doing a little internet searching, and I saw someone stating that when the FS108 has all 8 ports occupied, things began to messed up. He said when he called the rep, they told him to find a different router because the "backplane" was not meant for his "needs".

Is there any way to put caps on bandwidth usage for programs? Lets say I wanted to allow 200kb/s for a program, and leave the rest for my day to day work, would there be any way to do that?

After some searching on various forums, I have found that the Nexland FTP site is still up. If you want your firmware, download it quick, before it goes down.

Well, I'm on a home network behind a Nexland ISB soho router.

One computer is Win98
One computer is WinXP

Now, whenever I'm trying to copy a file from one computer to the other, it seems to never go above 5% network utilization (using the Network monitor in XP)

Anyone know what's causing it to ...

By the way, this is on a computer with no data on it at all.. (just built it yesterday.)

When I just boot from the w2k disk so it installs, it just says that there is zero partition space on the hd, and it closes. I thought the partitioning was done AFTER it boots the disk.. no?

Loading XP on a new computer with XP CD that doesnt boot?

After building my computer I plan on loading XP onto the system. However, the CD being used isnt bootable because it was burned for me by a friend.

Would you guys tell me how I'll go about getting XP on this system? :)

Also, this is a computer with nothing installed... no dos.. anything..

U know whats funny, the thermal tape that came with it wasnt even covered to keep it clean, therefore when I looked at it there was all this stuff stuck to it... I dont plan on using this heatsink anyways.. hoping to use the slk-800 when it comes :)

Putting heatsink on the mobo

I just got my A7N8X mobo and the amd 2600+ processor.

the processor came with a stock heatsink and cooler. This heatsink is such a pain to get on, I have a feeling I'm gonna break my board before it gets on. Do you guys have any suggestions on how to get it on??
