Hi Kevin,
I see that you are using Crazy Browser or IE6.
I have noticed a considerable difference doing the same test, from the same site using the two applications.
I`m over here in Europe but I`m using a stateside Website to download from.( http://www.toast.net ).
Crazy is for me ± 10 to 15 ...

Here is the whole thread for Network Prorocol on your ramdisk.
Have patience though `cause its a long read but it does work.
Personally I`ve had no problems with this tweak although at the moment I have not had the time to reinstall it. I`ll get there, all in good time.

I agree with the Dude and MNOSteele52 but I want to add that you don`t have to lose what you save on the RamDisk!!!!...with the ONLY exception of power loss or the system freezing up.

In W2K you have Startup scripts and shutdown scripts.
(I am still surprised that to the best of my knowledge very ...

I`ve got to agree with you guys. My experience was that my download speeds @ Speakeasy were 800Kbps max but now I`m hitting around 1480Kbps. Max from my providor is 1500/128.
My providor has it`s own download test and they report to me that I`ve hit the max. that they provide. Shame really because ...

Well I for one have had no problem....
I`m still hitting 95 to 98% of my download speeds even after installing SP4.
My ISP says 1500/128 and I`m getting 1480/118.
Not bad I think.

I agree but I do have to say that since I installed my router I`m hitting about 95 to 98% of the download speed my ISP advertized.
BTW I`m in Holland and I use two servers in the US to get a much better idea of speed over greater distances.

Why Are We Letting Broadband ISPs Screw Us Over??

I`ve been thinking about what has been written to this thread and for what it is worth I think that we all should first of all look at the operating system and ENSURE that the OS is running at optimum speeds. Having said that I mean that as far as Windows goes as an OS it is NOT optimilised for the ...

I tried these settings and for me they did not work at all. In fact the settings gave me a 10% reduction in DL speed. But I am willing to try...Who knows I might be able to break my caps by more than 1%.......but I doubt it!!!!!

Analyzer

While I`m not exactly new to this forum I am still confused why the SG analyzer does not correctly return my values.
Because I´m hitting my caps, and a little above, I´m not too worried. I use http://www.toast.net as my DL testsite and considering the fact that I live in Holland in Europe I reckon ...

Hi there all,
I just got the best result I could ever wish for. Put a router in my network, got it going and then forgot all about it.
And then it hit me...I couldn`t see my wifes `puter in Explorer.
Very strange....so I clicked on "Setup local network" or whatever the translation is from Dutch and ...

Tcp/ip

Just thinking about things when I thought about how would you build a sportscarfrom an existing car. What is the first action (or thought) ??? How do I lose weight to go faster!!! Right?
Well maybe...
But what if the same applies to the TCP/IP protocol we use to communicate with Internet.
To give an ...

Hi guys and dolls.
I bought a computer from a friend for $125.
The CPU was a 550Mz with 3 memory slots. A short time ago memory was very cheap here in Holland so I bought a few sticks.
Anyway to cut a long story short I had 768Mb memory on the motherboard, 3 harddiscs of 20Gb per disc and then it ...

I`m sorry Dannjr but I certainly do not think that the information is by any means complete @ http://dslnuts.com/ramdrive.shtml

Why stop @ putting 2 tcp/ip files on the ramdisk for improved performance??

Ramdisk

I`ve been following a lot of the threads about ramdisk. I must say that it works for me so far. But I also see a possible problem..people are saying that startup times are increasing due to the fact that w2k need to execute startup scripts. So far as I can see the only thing that w2k does is execute ...
