Analyzer

Post by Melvin »

While I`m not exactly new to this forum I am still confused why the SG analyzer does not correctly return my values.
Because I´m hitting my caps, and a little above, I´m not too worried. I use http://www.toast.net as my DL testsite and considering the fact that I live in Holland in Europe I reckon this is pretty good.
I must also add to this post that now I´m hitting my caps more than 95% of the time all the fun of tweaking and testing has disappeared....I´m going to leave the system setup as is until new developments begin to hit this forum.

Thought you might like to know that I began hitting my caps after a clean installation of XP, before I had W2K, which detected that I have 2 nics.
Thereafter XP installed a network bridge and since then everything is a lot quicker. Don´t ask me why it just is......for me.
Not forgetting to say thank you for CableNut of course and for everyones input.
A little about my system for the interested ones, nothing special at all I suppose.......
Siemens XB Desktop...633 processor...512Mb ram...Comm 21 cable modem...E/Tech router and Edimax 10 100 Mbps hub.
So you see that you dont need the biggest, best or newest to reach the best possible speeds without breaking the ISP rules.

Hey you guys and dolls...have alot of fun out there...I will still be reading this forum.

Are you using a proxy or router?

No way I am using a proxy server. Its like this...Isp via Comm21 modem which is connected to my E/Tech router via WanLan port.
Ethernet cable to my wifes computer and another ethernet cable to a hub for my network. My hub connection to the router is via the uplink port on the hub. Behind the hub I have another 3 computers. They are all capable of seeing one another...etc etc etc...and still caps!!!!!!!

By the way.....my router has a dedicated ip and mac address from my providor but the rest of the network uses DHCP addresses which are given out from the router.

Hope this is clear...

Thanks for the info. Hook your computer directly to the modem (no hub or router) and lets see what the SG analyzer tells you then. After you're done... you can hook it back the way you had it.
