Correct..exactly like mine. Sorry about the long delay in answering. I've had all versions of windows on my computers..all of them, and have never had a major problem with either the networking or the connection sharing.

Mine's blank, so I voted other. I hate setting a homepage, then getting tired of it being the one that comes up when I open IE to go to another page..too fickle I guess..lol

BellSouth has adsl 1.4 down/256 up for $50/month..and it's steady service.
AT&T has up to 1.5 up and down guaranteed, but it's very expensive.

What about if you have "A" and "B" and not "C" plugged in? If they work, maybe you're isp is limiting you to 2 ips

PaulLuke, I also have that same modem, and I have 4 computers connected to it. I have the modem through a usb port of course, and the 4 computers into a hub. Internet connection sharing turned on, and all four connect with no problem.

Connection Monitor

Does anyone know of a free "ping program"? I need a program that will send out a ping to an ip address once every so often..like, say every 3 minutes. We use one at work to prove to our customers that they did not in fact lose their connection during the night or whatever. (I work for a dsl provider ...

Windows XP & LANS slowness

I have had Windows XP Home Edition for a couple of months now and I LOVE it..it hasn't even begun to crash yet. One small problem however. It's very slow browsing/transferring to/from my LAN. The other computers run windows ME and they're fast between each other. It's only when my XP is involved ...

If you're using Internet Explorer, go to Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, and select it there. It won't remove it..choose the option ot Repair it. If it's not there, then upgrade to at least 5.5 and it'll show up.

Don't know if this will help, but as a certified DSL tech, I can tell you DSL & DELL do not mix very well..could be the same with cable since they basically set up the same way...that's if you have a Dell of course :)

250 pings are good or bad depending like was said before, on your location and also on what speed dsl you have.

griping to your sales rep or anyone else won't help, trust me. The steps they'd have to go through to get you ( and hundreds of other users ) would cost hundreds of thousands of dollars, and that's the exact reason why so many companys are going under today

How odd. I use Bellsouth ADSL also, and I have winxp home edition, and I just don't have that problem. My computer stays on days at a time and idle for hours upon hours and I've never had that problem. Maybe it's just in xp pro. I'd recommend checking the power options in the control panel. :)

Windows Explorer in ME

Is there a registry hack available to make Windows Explorer open up to something other than My Documents? It's very irritating and I'd like it to open up to My Computer by default.

Thanks,
MeJayne

Control Panel/Network Connections Right click on Local Area Connections, go to Properties, Go to Advanced tab, uncheck the Firewall. So the same for any other connections you might have also.
