Hi all.
Im quite un-satisfied with my @Home Cable Upload Limit, so im thinking of Getting DSl, which may be better upload. So can someone recommend me a good ISP? Particularly, which ISP Supports at least 128 kilobytes/sec, at the same time download is at least 256 kilobytes/sec.
Also, i recently noticed that my ping/latency is affected by my upload cap of my modem when connecting to servers (game). i noticed this because when i connected to a server when my upload was free (i wasnt uploading to n e one), my ping was usual (about 50 - 100, on average in a UT server), but when i connected to the same server, when i was uploading to someone at my cap (about 15 kilobytes), my pings were flying (about 500 + kilobytes/sec).
Actually , what im getting at is, that i want at least a 100 kilobyte/sec upload and at least a 256 kilobyes/sec d/l.
bye.

For that, you usually want a business class account. I use BizOnline DSL....they have fantastic performance and speed...important to me for gaming, although I'm on a 1500/128 account, since I'm far from the CO, I bench at 680/115. Don't forget, DSL is distance dependent....the farther you are from the CO...the slower you go. Most ISP's are maxing their supported distance at 17,500 feet from the CO. CO being the phone companies Central Office in your area...where your neighborhoods phone lines all gather. My ISP, biznessonline.com, blows the local phone company away for online gaming performance, where "PING" is what rules, not throughput.
At the office, we use our local phone company, SNET/SBC, and have a high speed business class account. It's 6,000 down, 384 up. Needed the extra speed for our service dept to be able to download huge updates, drivers, etc, and upload for our mail server. It's just under 200 per month, but look at all that performance you get. Gaming is "so so" though with the phone companies DSL....about as steady as cable.
