hey, i actually just got it working, all i did was switched around the cable from the switch to the pc, i guess there was something wrong with it somewhere, Anyways Thanks Alot for anyone that has helped out i realy apprecaite it. :)

no , each pc has 1 nic and then they go to the switch which is connected to the cable modem. when i go view computers on workgroup and i click the other pc it asks for username/password, so i put it and it just keeps asking for it. From this pc i cant even see the shares on the other.

just installed NetBeui on both pcs and i still have the same problem. Yes both pcs are windows xp (pro.) and the shares are set fine, like it wont even show the printers or scheduled tasks on the other pc when i try to map a drive.

tried that countless times, if it matters i just reinstalled windows xp with sp1 . I had the network working fine before and i seem to have all the same settings right now.

home network problem

i have setup my network using a netgear fs105 switch, cable modem to uplink port and other pcs to the other ports. OK, so both can connect to the internet and one can see the other's shares fine but one pc sees the other pc but not any of the shares , what could be wrong ?

im on windows xp

Remove Outlook in Win XP

how can i permamently remove outlook, deleting the files didnt work.. i want to remove it b/c it keeps placing .eml files everywhere on my pc. when i do virus scan they show up as virus and it deletes them, but they always come back.

if each pc had its own ip how would that benefit me ? with the first setup when i download a bunch of files it sometimes makes some files bigger than they actually are and i have to redownload those files.

ok this is how i have my network now


cable modem -> switch then 2 wires from switch each going to other pc.

i want to know if there is a way to have 1 pc as a server and then 2nd as a client. this is the setup i tried

cable modem to nic1 on pc1 then nic2 to switch uplink port then switch to pc2 ...

ok hers my problem i have a home network setup using a switch, 2 nics in one pc which acts as a server, other pc is the client. I was told i need to install the Client on nic 2 on the server and the nic floppy disk on has it for only windows 3.1.

ok i have $ now and i am wondering what ram is best for pentium 4. ddr or rdram? is it worth paying extra $250 to a pc with ddr ram or should i just get rdram ?

When you setup a new Account (Tools->Accounts->Mail->Add button) you will see where it says "Incoming mail server is" and it is defaulted to POP3. Use the drop down box next to POP3 to select HTTP.

i did that but now my email provider is icq what do i put for "Incoming Mail(POP3,IMAP or HTTP ...

the new icq is much better b/c you can save ur contact list instead of having to write down like 25 icq numbers,plus the newest version has alot of bug fixes and works fine with win xp.

why dont u want to use cds they only cost 25 cents a peice .
8000(approx 8gigs) divided by 800 =10cds that will only cost you $ 2.50, whats wrong with that?

why do u need system commander i did it without it with no problems. Just start ur pc with the CD in the drive and linux will setup.
