What do you think will happen to computer-related jobs in the next 10-15 years?

The way I see it. Computer-related jobs will be outsourced. Miniscule number of Computer technicians, very few network administrators, few network engineers, few database administrators etc.

Took the first 2 semesters of CCNA about 2 years ago...and all I have to say is that you have to know your stuff.. theres only 40 questions on the real exam

PcAnywhere printing could do it...it's not a ball of fire, but it can do it. Forward the ports on router #2 to the LAN IP (ideally static) of the print host.

But in this situation...if you want that much interoperability between these two networks.....you might be better off stepping up to 10,000 ...

My router doesn't have DMZ (not sure exactly what that is), manual for router doesn't mention anything about DMZ.

The thing is I want my computers from router #1 to be able to print off the printer on Router #2 (Printer connected to PC)...

But.....computers behind route #2 can get to computers behind router #1...by opening them up by IP address. Remember, home routers allow traffic outbound....they just don't allow traffic inbound. That's why computers behind router #1 will not be able to get a reply from pings or browsing requests ...

We've had lots of discussions here about a router inside of another router, both in gateway mode. By default home routers are run in gateway mode.

It's not an issue, just have different IP scopes on each one.

Example: Router #1...the one that's connected to your broadband modem, the LAN side of ...

VPN and NETBIOS name problem with win2kadvserv, can't resolve names

Everytime I connect to my network via VPN, i'm unable to view netbios names, and i'm unable to connect to netbios names in the wired network

everytime i want to connect to a computer in the wired network I have to type in: \\172.16.1.1

instead of \\pc1

I just checked, i can't ping netbios names ...

Windows XP Pro file sharing problem

When I share a folder on my network it is visible and accessible to anyone and I can't find the setting to disable that.

How do I username/password protect it?

like when someone connects to my computer:

\\pc\my documents

I want it to prompt a "username" and "Password" just like in windows 2000 ...

Surprised that w2k runs nicely on that little RAM. If you cut off enough services and are only using it as a vpn gateway, I guess you're alright.

I was seriously contemplating about running win2kadv serv on my Athlon 1800+ with 512MB of RAM w/ RAID1+0 with like 5 fans ...

All i did was allow that 1723 port and block everything else on that adapter...now i'm updating windows to get the latest critical updates. Finally, I'll disable any services I don't need.

This is awsome! I can't believe win2kserv is running on my Pentium 166Mhz with 256MB of ram. I don't need that ...
