anyone knows if this router need a x-over cable to connect to adsl modem? i use straight cable but the speed is way down.

I reinstalled WS_FTP & it works with the router.

However, I couldn't download software through web site link & also i couldn't load some web site like icq.com & real.com. What's happening here?

i tried to disable the proxy setting in WS_FTP but it still doesn't work, same with the SSH secure shell.

Does any one know how to configure netgear rt314 so that i can use commercial ftp software, preferable SSH secure shell or WS_FTP?

nightowl, are you saying that if i want to ftp then i have to disable the router firewall permenantly and enable it afterward? What information do i need from my ISP for setup the router? my main purpose is telnet and ftp to other server, do i still need to disable the router firewall as i'm not running any server at this point? Isn't it dangerous if i have to disable the firewall? What is the latest firmware & where can i get it? Is it compatible with Win2k Pro.?
