netgear rt314 & internet

Post by chrislau »

I bought the netgear rt314 & set it up but run into SERIOUS problem. My internet speed is tremendously slow, i can't load quite alot of web sites, e.g. icq.com & real.com. The rest takes a long time to load. I live in Winnipeg Manitoba & my ISP is Escape (ADSL) currently under MTS. I'm using v3.22(M.01) firmware. Can someone help me? At this point i'm searching for alternative ISP, probably @HOME cable modem eventhough i prefer ADSL if i can solve the problem. I'm running Win98SE on both of my pc. My ADSL modem is from Nortel.

funny i got the same router and dsl modem, and it seems fine......it sounds like a isp problem because the other weekend i had the same problem certain web pages wouldn't load...seems to have cleared up though

oh ya, and don't forget there are tones of people downloading off of napster right now because of the court decisions so all the backbones of the ISP's are slower then usual

ya, i thought it was my router so i exchanged it for a new one but the problem still exist. If i switch back to my proxy server and hub setup, i don't have this problem. Those technicians keep telling me it's my pc problem, really piss me off. I don't know what else can i try. Nightowl, do you know any known issue for rt314 & @HOME service?

oh ya make shure your not using the cross over cable that came with the netgear router directly attached to your pc
