Utility to change a port in Software ?

I have a server/game Software that uses a TCP and UDP ports but has not facility to modify them. This makes in impossible to operate on several PC's behind a router, since port forwarding is not possible.
Is there a way (proxy software?) that can help modifying those ports ?

An idea for TCPOptimizer - version 3 - speed test ...

How about adding DL speed test TAB in the next version ? It will be great to test your speed BEFORE and AFTER tweaking .
It might be similar to the latency tab, but the user will be able to configure a list of download servers (mostly - ftp) as well as download files names. The software will display ...

Max # of TCP connections & concurrent "opens"

I'm on Win 98 W/O a router.

A. I tried to set MaxConnections (in the registry) to 1024 but looks like the actual limit is around 400. Is there a way to increase it ?

B. I tried to run this natcheck program and got those results:

Max. TCP Connections in Win 98

I've tried to tweak the "MaxConnections" registry value to a high # (1024) so that I'll be able to set a P2P client to handle about 400 connections per downloading task, and 2 tasks concurrently. At the same time leave some free connections for IE/browsing.

I tried to verify that by checking with ...

RTFM please. The numbers are IN the program above. Put your average latency in preferences (say - 200, or check with the "Latency" tab) and just press "optimize" & apply...

The problem with editing the number of concurrent connections being opened per second for Windows XP is that it requires editing of tcpip.sys, which goes a bit beyond the scope of this software. Note that the "10" limit is for 10 new connections per second in SP2, not 10 total open connections ...

Rafi, thanks for the comments and the constructive feedback.

For 1. --> The top keys only are ordered by importance as we saw it at the time. I am not sure what alphabetical order for those would be, since they're in different Registry branches.

The real problem is to find the important "MSTCP ...

Thanks. Great job! Almost all our comments were fixed. I'll put it also on my Networking forum for testing.

At first glance here are some (very minor) notes:
1. Alphabetic order in Registry tab
2. After selecting "PPPoE DSL" then moving over to "current" - this check-mark is being cleared. You ...

I just noticed something interesting, if you select a latency other than 300-500ms and select ok and then exit the program, then fire the program back up again and click on optimal, the optimal settings for 500ms appear to be given eventhough when you check the latency it shows a number other ...

Great fix. Thanks! Host resolution priority on Win98 ("current" & "custom" modes) are being read correctly from the registry now.

Just a few remarks (Win98) :
1. All host resolutions "optimal" mode - are still 0's, and not what you want to recommend
2. looks like you "adopted" my preference here ...

rafi... Seems your "current" and "custom" MTU is 1492, and the calculation for RWIN is correct and what we think is optimal. The "optimal" settings show MTU of 1500 and no PPPoE, hence the different RWIN.

Whether the Optimizer shows "optimal" or your "current" values is just a question of ...

I'll test that for 1., thanks for the information.

For 2. above, what is your "current" RWIN value (in the Registry and as shown by the Optimizer) ? What is the "custom" ? What is the "optimal" and your selected speed ?

We have been trying to make a well rounded program that works with all current Windows versions, including Windows 98. It has been tested extensively before.

What mcoffee said, and what I responded was a joke.
Ok then. I'll try to explain the two problems better (Win98...):
1. When you look at ...

What Operating System ? All the "host resolution" values are set to low numbers, and not at the same priority. They should be set, and are, as far as I know to 5,6,7,8. This is intentional and by design. The Optimizer displays the decimal equivalent of the hex values you quote, as it should ...

Problems running on Win98SE

Here are two problems:
1. In Advanced tab - ALL "host-resolution" values are 0. The real values are: XX 00 00 00 which should display XX.
2. In "general" tab - when selecting "custom settings" - the existing RWIN value is being changed to some random (bigger) value. It should stay the same.

Thanks ...
