Max # of TCP connections & concurrent "opens"

Post by rafi_d »

I'm on Win 98 W/O a router.

A. I tried to set MaxConnections (in the registry) to 1024 but looks like the actual limit is around 400. Is there a way to increase it ?

B. I tried to run this natcheck program and got those results:

...
...Request 19 of 20
...Request 20 of 20

TCP RESULTS:
TCP consistent translation: YES (GOOD for peer-to-peer)
TCP simultaneous open: NO (BAD for peer-to-peer)
TCP loopback translation: NO (BAD for P2P over Twice-NAT)
TCP unsolicited connections filtered: YES (GOOD for security)

UDP RESULTS:
UDP consistent translation: YES (GOOD for peer-to-peer)
UDP loopback translation: YES (GOOD for peer-to-peer)
UDP unsolicited messages filtered: NO (BAD for security)

Does anyone know if those two:

TCP simultaneous open
TCP loopback translation

need to be corrected and how ?
