and hopefully they don't say "you have to use our modems, we don't provision modems purchased by the customer" which is the case where I live.. use our $1.98 walmart modems or be without roadrunner.

I would be plenty POed if my service started to suck cause someone on my node was stealing all the bandwidth.. as far as I'm concerned this is a bad thing.

I don't know what kind of meter it is yet.. as I haven't received it yet. I got a ford f150 with a cap... the thing is pretty screwed up though.... 64K miles and it seems to have an injector clogged or something..

been out for 2 days on my own now.. its been ok.. haven't really had many problems..

we use a signal level meter and test the signals on cable channel 5 and 79 to judge if the signals at the modem are proper, however different ...

I have a gateway linux server on my network with the ip of 192.168.1.1 that provides internet to the rest of my computers. but that IP is listed on the RR.com DNS servers as being spider.columbus.rr.com. when I log into my gateway from my other box(192.168.1.2) it says ive logged in from Xterm2 ...

I just went to login to my gateway and got a strange message that I last logged in from xterm2.columbus.rr.com which is impossible, since I logged in from inside my local network... am I wrong or has someone done a boo boo at rr.com? look at that last one.. its a HP Laserjet 5 :-)
