I bought a surfboard modem from best buy today to save that $10 a month rental and hooked it up real quick switching the cables with my current one(Network card not USB btw, also running on xp if it matters). I waited for the lights to stop flashing and then booted up my pc and..no internet. Checked ...

I WISH I was on a lan. I have alot of stuff I want to transfer and my old comps cd burner keeps getting errors and my A drive is kind of...busted.

Knowing nothing about lans, I don't suppose it's possible for me to set one up w/o buying $100 worth of equipment?

Windows xp 20% bandwidth reserve.

This has probably been asked before, but the search feature won't take 'xp' so that makes looking difficult. Anyway how do I allow windows xp to use 100% of my bandwidth?

My local cable co. was sold to new owners and they upped my internet bill from $40 to $48, which while worth it considering how good the service has been seems a little bit high relatively speaking. What does everyone else pay?
