512k, that's what I meant by WAN...your outside pipe.

Marginal for 50 users, but assuming they won't all be online at the same time.

Took a quick peek at 24Online's website, next question is...who installed, manages, the software? It's a bandwidth management software which is there to throttle bandwidth, to prevent any abuse of it.

If you're in charge of this 24Online server's configuration, I'm sure there's a way to configure it for a bit more....didn't have time to download and read the manual. If not, I see different packages you can purchase from the ISPs' that seem to resell this.

Or, if you're one of the 50 employee's trying to bypass this enforced rule, I'll ignore it.

Hello;
Thanks again for ur reply.
just leave all the previous discussion aside.

We are geting 512k bandwidth from outside to our server (linux)through modem. we have 50 users who will share this internet connection. I want to distribute the the bandwidth depends on howmany users are online at each moment. That means if there are 25 users online at a time, each user should get a bandwidth maximum of 512/25 kbps . If there are 10 users in next moment then the maximum bandwidth each can be used as maximum of 512/10 kbps.

we are looking for a software which can evenly distribute the bandwidth.
The server is linux.

we tried distributing 5kbps to each one but was unused if there are only two users some time and wan to download bigfiles. (we tried with 24 online software but not happy with this limitation)

can any one suggest a good package or software which can help us

thanks in advance

I'm not much into software means of sharing, but these people tried to get me as a reseller a couple of years ago.

Let them do the dog and pony show for you.

Curious...

You say you are running XP? By chance do these machines have QoS installed still?

You can check in the Network connections tab by dbl clicking ur interface.
