A Message From Mr.X
A Message From Mr.X
It is time to let all of you know who Mr.X is.
Mr.X is none other then myself. I didn't want my identity revealed at the time, because of a matter of pride, when everything possible seemed to be going down the toilet. Ken came along and changed the whole outlook on my situation by incorporating the generosity of the members that make up SG.
For those of you who applied your help, I want you all to know that it not only brought tears to my eyes, but allowed me to see that there are great people who do care, still around and that it's alright to accept help when there is no other course to take.
I wanted to update you on what's happening.
The Aortic Valve Replacement Surgery took a long time to be scheduled. My original date was June 10th. 12 days before that date, I got an upper respiratory infection, which postponed the surgery. During the recovery time of this infection, the Doc's discovered something not quite right in my blood. They've sent my blood to the Mayo Clinic for analysis and still don't know why they are seeing what they see. For those who are into medical testing, my aPPT is 48, which is way high. It should be between 25 and 35. They sent me to a Hematologist and I got the clearance to go ahead with the surgery. If anything as far as bleeding is a problem, which by all other tests, it shouldn't be, they'll be giving me some plasma.
The new surgical date is 7/22 which is this Monday coming up.
The surgeon has bent over backwards telling me survival statistics for a case like mine. They are not in my favor, but I've been through a ruptured aortic aneurysm and those odds were much worse. I will have 2 Surgeons double teaming me on Monday to get the job done. I'm their pet peeve project and the only patient they will operate on that day.
I'm writing this now in anticipation of not having a lot of computer time for remaining days till surgery. It is hectic getting ready and sometimes I see these little flash movies in my head, of the Surgeon repeating the odds numbers over and over, blood shortage in our area, having additional lung hemorrhaging and being on the ventilator longer then I thought possible, etc. I really want to bolt from the planet, but this has to be done and done very soon, as my heart is enlarging more and more. Soon, it won't be able to be repaired if I don't act promptly.
To Philip, Ken, John, Bouncer, Downhill and the many of you who helped in this endeavor, I thank you, my family thanks you, and I think God as I know him, has set aside a special place for you.
SG is truly a family and a family that I'm proud to be a part of and you should be too!

We need you well for when we start up our SG flying club in about a month when everyone starts getting their copies of FS2002

Thanks JCoS, I'm scared poopiless, but that's all a part of this. It's not natural to have your chest cut open and your heart cut up, so I think my feelings are just about normal.![]()

My grandmother is almost 89 and has gone through a few heart surgery's over the years and came out playing Bingo like never before.
Like I said you'll be just fine.

Ken has it already unless he lost it in all his shtuff. We had been talking about our mazes of paper that we go through to find things.Originally posted by UOD
Could you also pass on to Ken a phone number so we can check in on you please?
Good luck!
See ya on tuesday!
My wife will be very busy. She is working midnights and she's just not going to have the time to update everyone who needs to be updated. I should be in intensive care for 24 to 48 hours after surgery, so don't be shocked if the hospital won't release any info. Ken, I hate to elect you to be the one to check, but I see your point about the hospital switchboard. Thanks again.

Will they allow farm animals in the hospital? I can come up and visit IF they will let me bring my goats.
Blebs man....don't dwell on the odds(easy to say I know), but keep that bit of brain you claim to have in a upbeat mood eh? The mind has some amazing power to overcome adversity. If ya really don't wanna go the way of the do-do(the bird ya sickos) yer mind is THE tool for ensuring that. 7/22 is gonna be a day I'll fidget alot, there better be someone posting for ya, you really don't want a rabid pack of SG'ers trying to find out. I will pray for ya man, let us know if there is ANYTHING we can do to help. Be it send food, cards for the family...whatever. We want to help out ya know?
Wanna have a bit of fun with the doc? Have yer wife write a mal-practice lawyers name and phone # on yer chest with a marker....

Hey Blebs...I am not really sure what happened, however I wish you the best of luck and may God be with you.
My wife, mother and step-mother are all RNs, so I can relate to your hospital talk. I get to hear it all the time. I know you'll get through this fine and will be back to solving my VIRUS issues in no time.
If you need ANYTHING at all, PLEASE call me or email me. Remember, I'm only a couple of hours away from you (Lima, OH). I'll PM you my contact information in case you need anything.
Oh, and its A+ over here on tap in case you need it. And there are FREE refills.
Good luck.

Hello again everyone. I don't anticipate blood being a problem, it's just something that my brain is thinking about amongst all the other. Our area is in critical need of B+? B-?, one of those 2 but I can't remember which. I'm O+, so I should be o.k.. If the need does arise, I will surely let you know.
You can donate blood anytime in your community and I'm more then certain that your own communities could use a stock pile themselves.
I appreciate everyone and all of you offering, as I would do the same for you or your family if I could.
I'll try to stop back later tonight and catch up.
Thanks again to all of you!!!!
