My Fiance & I..........

Post by Prey521 »

Have decided to buy a house!!!!!!! :2cool:

At first I was a little skeptical, being that I grew up in NYC all of my life and I could never imagine living outside of Manhattan in some drabby ole house that needs tons of maintenance, insurance and monthly mortgage BS, but I guess my feelings on that have changed. I have a few friends that own houses and when I go over things are so peaceful and relaxing. To just be able to sit in your own backyard on a nice warm weekend and relax on a hammock or something with birds chirping all around sounds pretty cool, and besides, I hear that backyard sex is amazing :D

We've decided to move to New Jersey near New York City (Hey, I gotta stay close to the city ;) ) We're goin today to do some hunting. Any tips fellow homeowners? We know nada about buying a home, but we have some friends that do and they're gonna give us a helping hand.

Thanx a lot guys/gals :)

Good! Look around, but about the first thing to do is to get pre-approved by a lender so you'll know how much you have to work with.

Best of luck to you.

You're moving to JERSEY?! Haha, I won't even BEGIN to start mocking you for this, because I'll never stop... :p

Anyway, David is probably the one to talk to here about NJ-specific stuff. As far as general home ownership goes...hopefully, the SG collective can come up with enough decent points over a few days. :p

Hi Prey

Congratulations on the housing idea. You really can't go wrong at the moment with interest rates as they are.

I know nothing of the Real Estate Market in the USA, however one thing i do know that always turns out well is, Buy the Least Expensive Home on the Most Expensive Street you can afford.

As the others rise in value yours always looks of value, so you actually rise higher and improve your profit potential over time quicker than the others.

Good Luck to You Both.

regards

I agree with poptom...first get your pre-approval, then you know what price range you will be looking at, then look at as many house as you can in that range that you can, and if you know anyone in the real estate business see if they can give you one of the booklets that come out monthy but they are only for realitors, they are so nice, the house is listed as well as price, and what it has to offer, alot of the listing in these booklets are not posted in public papers.
