Just got opt online installed..

Post by curtay »

I'm uploading at about 125kbytes/sec with my new optonline, which is REALLY nice. I'm downloading at about 400-500. I know optonline advertises more than that. I dont want to sound like im complaining, but does anyone know any tweaks that can help me get more out of my cable service?
thanks.

Which modem do you have? Depending on which one you have, there may be a revision update that may increase your speed. I own the Motorola SB4100. After the 4.4.0 update, my speed went up from 400Kb/s on average to around 550Kb/s. Before getting 400Kb/s with the 4.3.3 update, I used to get around 250Kb/s with the original firmware, or 4.0.9.

Of course results vary depending on your local node, node population, and the modem you own.

The Motorola starts to bog out at around that speed. If you want, try picking up a Teryon Terajet at The Wiz or something and give OOL their modem back.

*** To illestdynasty ***

If you have Optimum Online cable modem service, Engineer88 can push the latest firmware update for your SB4100. Go to www.dslreports.com/forum/cable,opt and post a thread about it.
