First of all, download Cablenut from my sig below. Install, reboot, and download the Speedguide patchs for your OS. List your System specs here. Also take the TCP/IP Test at the top of the page. :)

TCP options string = 020405b401010402

MTU = 1500
MTU is fully optimized for broadband.

MSS = 1460
Maximum useful data in each packet = 1460, which is equal to MSS.

Default Receive Window (RWIN) = 17520
RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 0 bits
Unscaled Receive Window = 17520
RWIN is a multiple of MSS
Other values for RWIN that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:
513920 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 8)
256960 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 4)
128480 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 2)
64240 (MSS x 44)

bandwidth * delay product:
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 700.8 kbps (87.6 KBytes/s) @ 200ms
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 280.32 kbps (35.04 KBytes/s) @ 500ms
Consider increasing your RWIN value to optimize TCP/IP for broadband.

MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON

Time to live left = 112 hops
TTL value is ok.

Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF

Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON

IP type of service field (RFC1349)= 00000000

I think you didn't install the patches correctly. Open Cablenut, at the bottom, delete tweaks, and add on the Speedguide tweaks again. :)

I think you are on Proxy. Download a article I wrote about Proxies @ http://www.unknownregion.f2s.com/Proxy Server.rtf

In there, it tells you how to uninstall a particular proxy. I would also appretiate feedback, like is the instruction too hard etc... that's my first article. :)

I don't think you are on PPPoE from the test... Do you have to log on in order to go on the internet?

Ah is this right ?

TCP options string = 020405ac0103030201010402

MTU = 1492
MTU seems to be optimized for PPPoE... If you are not on a PPPoE connection, consider increasing your MTU to 1500 for optimal throughput.

MSS = 1452
Maximum useful data in each packet = 1452, which is equal to MSS.
MSS is optimized for PPPoE. If you are not on a PPPoE connection, consider increasing your MTU value.

Default Receive Window (RWIN) = 255552
RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 2 bits
Unscaled Receive Window = 63888
RWIN is a multiple of MSS
Other values for RWIN that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:
511104 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 8)
127776 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 2)
63888 (MSS x 44)

bandwidth * delay product:
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 10222.08 kbps (1277.76 KBytes/s) @ 200ms
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 4088.832 kbps (511.104 KBytes/s) @ 500ms

MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON

Time to live left = 48 hops
TTL value is ok.

Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF

Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON

IP type of service field (RFC1349)= 00000000

Could you post your system specs and your OS for us? they are important to know which tweaks to have you DL as well as what to do. From your TCP/IP analyzer information it seems that you do not have the patches installed at all. Are you running thoru a PPPoe connection? If not then you need to get the patches for a non PPPoe connection installed. If you need to return to your defaults un-install cablenut the re install it to return to your defaults.

sguide_tweak_2k.zip (updated 11/23/00) - Generic patch for Windows 2000 (all versions). This patch will optimize your TCP/IP Registry settings for high speed Internet connections. To install, extract, then just double-click and reboot.

sguide_tweak_2k_pppoe.zip (updated 11/23/00) - PPPoE patch for Windows 2000 (all versions). This patch will optimize your TCP/IP Registry settings for high speed Internet connections, where your ISP has PPPoE implemented. To install, extract, then just double-click and reboot.

I tryed them both

the last one i tryed was the sguide_tweak_2k thats the results i had

I have ICQ my number is in my profile. You have the wrong patches installed you need the sguide_tweak_98_ME patch installed. As well as the web patch. Windows ME is considered Win9x and/or ME in most circles. Uninstall cablenut then re install to restore defaults (follow all of cablenuts installation and setup instructions) then download and install the speedguide patches sguide_tweak_98_ME patch as well as the web patch (not the webpatch for 2000 the top most patch under the web patch section thats is listed for 95/98/98se and ME. Then slip over to the TCP/IP analyzer and post your results here. Then we can get started.

registry

Post by Vesuvius »

re installing cablenut will reset your modem settings in your registry. But re instating your registry couldn't hurt. Also feel free to stop by www.jv16.org and download the reg cleaner if you are unsure of the condition of your registry. But all in all re installing cablenut and following his install instructions should take care of what we are talking about here.

Open Cablenut adjuster, go to TCPWindoSize, GlobalTCPWindowsize, and DefaultRCVWindow. In ALL three places, type in one number at a time: 513920, 512460, 511000, and 51100. Reboot after each time. Look into the help thread to see how to do speedtests, btw, you should NOT touch the 2k tweaks, since they are not compatible with ME. :)

I would try:

For Win 9x bring up Cablenuts adjuster inside icon on desktop in box that says Cablenut,click on adjuster, in box that says DefaultRvcWindow take out number that is in there and put in one of these, 1 at a time, try: 522680, 524176, 531440

Leave GlobalMaxTcpWindowSize blank
You do not have to show me but check analyzer here at SG to make sure RWIN is in, you will see number right after (RWIN) on analyzer
At bottom click save to registry, and REBOOT each time you change value in adjuster or it will not work.Click on tools at top of IE, internet options, delete files and offline files (This is safe, temp files) and click on clear history after EVERY test Quick speed test here
Speedtest may open another browser, so check taskbar and close other one, no other programs should be running, No AIM, ICQ, Virus scanner, Firewall, nothing
Once you find fast number for you, you want to save it, on file at top of adjuster click on that, save custom settings, put RWIN size in as name and click on save, now if you ever want these settins back, click on file, open custom settings file, and click on RWIN number, then click on save to registry at bottom, and REBOOT, your done. How to do real dowwnload test on help thread below in signature. This is all I recommend, if anyone else jumps in with something else, good luck, but it did not come from me.

ESC: now we have to download book instead of short and sweet turn proxy off, stop the presses, Proxies for Dummies, by ExtraSweetCrispy, just 49.95 plus your tax refund check :)
