Dedicating Memory To The NIC Card

Post by NotFastEnough »

I read somewhere that you should dedicate a certain amount of memory to you NIC card for maximum perfomance, but I can't remember the amount of memory to dedicate... and I sure don't know how to perform this feat!

Can anyone help me out here?

Thanks!

Ok guys, I found it! I added the line "Irq12=4096" to my system.ini file. Hope that is what I was looking for!

Just make sure of the IRQ that your NIC is using! It may or may not be IRQ12 ;)

You can also use 6144, But don't go any higher then that. That's what I use. Did not see much differance with 4096.

Sysedit will not work in ME, so how do I get into the system.ini file in ME? Dang it. I liked sysedit.

Hey guys1 I put that tweak in this morning and so far I have noticed quite a change! I was skeptical at first but it seemed worthwhile to give it a try and indeed it did make my connection a bit more robust! I'm noticing about a 10-15% change in download speeds already...when I get the time I'll post some pics with the settings as is and with the tweaks in place so we can tell for sure...pretty cool! :D

Winguard,Dannjr right try the ram drive. You will get better results. ;) This tweak were you add mem to your nic is really still not proved. It works for some and others it don't. Way back in some of the old archives for cable forum. Their is a post that goes on and on about it. Weither it works or not. It works for me.
