Is it possible for a major Hollywood studio to make a $50 million movie in which the hero is a terrorist? A terrorist who appears wearing the dynamite waistcoat of a suicide bomber, and who utters the line — from beneath a full-face wooden mask that he never takes off — "Blowing up a building can change the world"? A movie written and produced by the Wachowski brothers, the cyberauteurs who created The Matrix? Starring Natalie Portman, shaved as bald as Demi Moore in G.I. Jane?
These are not rhetorical questions. V for Vendetta, set for mid-March release in most markets, is that movie, and it is the most bizarre Hollywood production you will see (or refuse to see) this year. It's the kind of film that makes you ask questions like, Who thought this was a good idea?
Figureds Natalie Portman is in this one...think shaved head will be perfect for her..LOL
When are they going to make a movie about how great Al-queda is? Only a matter of time.
Well, seeing as the "terrorist" character is fighting against an oppressive, realized police state in the movie, I don't see the comparison to Islamic terrorists as valid.
That, or the transgendered Wachowski brother was on the rag when he wrote it.

never said movie was about muslim terrorists...said what are they going to make next? my guess is they will glorify al-queda..actually if i recall there is a movie about suicide bombers glorifying them.

Gotta agree here

Edit: And in the movie, isn't the main character only planning on blowing up one of the government buildings of this Police state? (I'm guessing here - I've only read a little about the movie on imdb) Whereas, al qaeda will blow up anything, especially "soft targets" where they are going to get alot of civilian kills ...
.
The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.

You mentioned Al-Qaida, and based on your previous posts regarding the subject, I thought it was pretty obvious that the main target of your ire were Islamic terrorists.
This is a case of context; the character in the movie is striking against an oppressive government, while the type of terrorists we (mostly) are dealing with are engaging in it because of primarily "religious" reasons or territorial disputes.
We are far more touchy about bombings and "terrorism" because of 9/11, and while the methods the character uses engender disgust in light of our times, remember the founders of this country also had to strike against a government they found to be oppressive as well. I'm not calling the founders terrorists, but as has been stated, terrorism is in the eye of the beholder.

Looks like a cool film to me. Can't wait to see it.
GH, I think you need to take a chill-pill or something (boy, I never thought I'd say that). But seriously, you seem to want to create a fuss out of nothing. Do you genuinly think the film is a bad idea, or are you just piling out that tripe because you read it and someone else made the comparison and finds it disgusting? Seriously, you think a film about guy who's fighting against an "oppressive dictatorship" is a justification of terrorism in our society? Why the shnide remark about "next they'll glorify al queda blah blah"?
