guitarists - what amp should i get?
How goes it my fellow artists. I was just wondering what amp I should get over the holidays. I have a cube 15 right now, really like it. I want to get something a bit louder so I can play with a drummer.. I was thinking along the lines of a Cube 30.
The cubes have the metal stack effect which is very crucial... i neeeeeeeeeeeeed that effect, its the only effect i play on. So.. any suggestions for something in the same price range? Portability is also a must...

IMHO, anything from Line 6...very versatile and loud.
the line 6 spider 2 has a 30 watt version for $199...should be pretty nice sounding as well.
how's the cube 15? i need a little practice amp like that for home use.
I would say, save your pennies...the Cube 60 is 60 watts...but it's like over 300 dollars I Think. I say because 30 watts is good and all, but I know based playing with my friends band, and another drummer I'm friends with, 30 watts is cutting it close.

went to Tom Lee's today, checked out some amps. There was a very affordable line 16 i think with some crazy arse effects.. I didnt like it very much. I didn't like it at all.. doesnt have my metal stack effect. I checked out another very affordable 30 watt amp.. it was a randall or something I think. That was a great amp.. very very very very powerful. It had great bass for its size.. overal just had a great sound. It has some wierd arse presets though.. for different rooms.
I still like my cube better than any of those amps. The cube 15 is honestly the loudest 15watt amp that I could find, and it has a lot of cool features. The 4 effects are awsome.. in general I am very very very impressed with it. Only prob is that its not loud enough for a drummer that likes to double kick. I can play with him but he has to hold back the double a bit... so i figure if i double the power then he iwll be able to play fully.
If you are looking for a practice amp - GET the cube 15.. i recommend it over ANY amp. Well that is if you are into metal music. I dont think its a very good clean amp. I play in metal stack and sometimes in clean, I like the clean but the metal stack is what really gets me.

Maybe get a marshall if your doin gigs

I was going to post a link to that thread, but the SG search results for "bullsh|t" were too numerous
sometimes you have to think outside the box to get inside the box

then explain what the metal stack effect is. I don't know what you looked at from Line 6 but you can't get more metal for the bang for your buck. I can simulate everything from Mesa Boogies to Marshalls on my Line 6. Have a tech do a demo for ya.
All of the death metal music we've created here on Speedguide was done using my Line 6.

Download at your leisure and listen to the various tones.
The problem you are facing is your budget. If you want a killer amp, a real tube amp, then you really should get a Mesa Boogie.
But there are other great amps out there...like this:
Hughes & Kettner Warp7 212 Combo--only 299

metal stack is just a CRISP CRISP distortion.... thats how i can basically explain it.. its very crisp, but its destorted.. I have my bass set to high so that it is really heavy. I can probably record some stuff and send it to you...
I think im just going to get the cube 30, i am just using it as a practice amp. Here UOD let me record a bit today and then ill show you what the metal stack effect is like.

How much is the Cube 30 you keep talking about?
If you get on Teamspeak...I can play through my amp and you can hear it live.
